THE INDOMIE GENERATION 🍜 THAT DISLIKES TRADITIONAL FOOD😏 // GEN Z WAHALA

in Hive Naija16 days ago

There are lots of tribes in Nigeria and each tribe has it's own unique culture and also it's own unique food. Bayelsa is one of the youngest state in Nigeria, although it is underdeveloped compared to other states it is very vast with it's culture, language and food.
The languages spoken in this small state are nembe, ogbia, epie,epie-atissa and ijaw.

Although they speak different languages, they actually have a lot in common such as the way we dress, the way we perform our wedding ceremony and funeral and even some words spoken in the different languages are similar. There are many more similarities that I won't mention and many more that I am not aware of.

One of the major thing these tribe have in common Is the food. Even though each tribe has it's own delicacy, they still share one common food as they all fall under one ethnic group known as ijaw( you might be familiar with that one).
This delicious food is known as kekefia, It is made with plantain and goat meat.

The aroma from this unique bayelsan food would fill your nostril whenever it is made and it would make your stomach grumble like a generator 🤤🤤. It looks appealing to the eyes and more satisfying to the taste buds. Bayelsan's are very proud of this traditional dish that is very easy to make and even though goat meat is not as cheap and as easily accessible as catfish, snail, periwinkle and peppersoup fish which are bayelsan's number one protein source as these animals live in the bayelsan rivers, people of bayelsa still prefer using goat meat that is known as an Igbo tribe protein food.
It is known by bayelsan's that kekefia is not kekefia without goat meat, it is simply just plantain porridge without goat meat included.

Kekefia is an amazing dish, it is bayelsa at it's finest in terms of food but with a little bit of shame I say this to you "I hate it"😔😔😁

Before you start judging, let's be honest, goat meat smells and plantain Is way too strong. It is such a hassle to chew.
Whenever it is made at home, Me I won't even stress myself I will just go down the road to mama ejimas restaurant and order egusi soup. with egusi soup I don't have to chew anything at least all I have to do is swallow and tada hehehe😁. To add a bit of bayelsa to the egusi soup that is an Igbo food I always use fufu made in an epie tribe style which is where I am from.

Or if it's too much I just buy suya and drink garri or boil noodles and settle my case. Nobody worry nobody

Whenever I do this my sister's get so mad, sometimes they chastise me and sometimes they just mind their business. Considering I'm naturally a picky eater, it wasn't a surprise to them that I don't like kekefia.
I guess being the last born played a huge part in the whole picky eating thing, I mean last borns have too much drama if you know what I mean.

One thing I advice to you my dear reader is that you should not take my word for it, after all we all have our preference based on our personalities, experience and taste buds. Whenever you visit bayelsa do not be afraid to give kekefia a try as it is bayelsa's traditional dish and 99% of people that have tried it always give a positive feedback.😏😊

Hive Power Up Day - May 1st 2024

Nigerian food looks so yummy, I never taste goat meat must be yummy, by the way so cool that in a place there are people that speak so many languages, here in Italy we most speak Italian but in some rural places old people speak in dialect.

Goat meat truly is tasty and yummy, especially when prepared with the best hands and most enticing dishes. Would you like me to send some your way? You're welcome to participate in the community's prompts if you'd like to. I am curious about the foods where you're from.

There are 525 languages spoken in Nigeria excluding English and pidgin English. I think bayelsa has the least amount of languages.

Lastborns be doing the most. Lol. Kekefia sounds very tasty, and I imagine that it's a proud signature dish of most Bayelsans. I'd like to try it some day, although I agree with the reasons you don't like it for.

This was actually a very informative post about Bayelsa and her people. Well done.

I advise you consider trying out InLeo. I imagine you wouldn't mind earning LEO rewards and InLeo curation with @leo.voter. To qualify, you simply have to use the InLeo frontend to publish into your desired communities. Here's a comprehensive guide if you'd like one. Great post, nonetheless.

It is tasty indeed, and I'm happy to find someone that agrees with my reason of dislike.

Thank you so much for the feedback, I'll give the recommended frontend a try the next time I post.

The food looks fine to the eyes. Honestly, when you were describing it on how eye catching, aromatic and tasteful it is, i never knew the aroma will end up being strong as you say.
Thinking it through tho.. I'm still trying to merge goat meat and platain to imagine how the smell will turn out to be. But i would want to ask, is it cooked with ripe or unripe plantain?

if some people make it for you, you might not even notice the smell at all. It's just that I have a really strong sense of smell.

It is made with unripe plantain. If you use ripe plantain it's no longer kekefia, it has become something else. Maybe someone else's traditional meal lol.

Oh okay.. Then it's settled, our sense smell is quite similar.

Unripe, just like i guessed.. Would love to give it a trial someday

I didn't know Indomie is huge in Nigeria. It's like everyone loves it over there. I only ever tried Jollof rice. I would love trying Suya and I found out in my country, they have this new Nigerian fusion restaurant selling egusi soup too.

Indomie is more than huge in Nigeria🤤😍😍 It is second to garri.

My dear make sure you visit that restaurant and try egusi soup, if you don't like it then they didn't prepare it well. Just Come to Nigeria and we'll show you the real deal😁🍛

ooh no wonder! I'll definitely write about that when I visit the restaurant.

It's been so lovely having you here and you've some very delectable dishes. I wonder though, is kekefia made with ripe or unripe plantain?

It is an honor to be here amongst my pipo.

It is made with unripe plantain

I can't believe you don't like "kekefia" Are you kidding me, tell me you're joking please😔 cause I love that meal as you mentioned with goat meat but then I prefer mine with snails oh my god I can't find myself😁

U see👀😄😄 even you too prefer plantain with snail rather than goat meat. In other words you prefer plantain and snail over kekefia 😏hehehe🤣🤣🤣.

It's not called kekefia without goatmeat

The kekefia looks delicious and I wouldn't mind trying it someday.

It would definitely be worth trying and if you do eventually taste it pls lemme know what your thoughts are😁😁

Traditional foods are actually the best and same time more healthy

They are way way more healthy than modernized processed food that is just filled with chemicals

Kekefia preparation method is amazing combination of kachankala and goat meat is amazing. Also, thank you very much for introducing me to your city and the people of the city.

You are welcome 🤗🤗

you are most Wellcome
