RE: Controlled Opposition and Divide and Conquer

in Economics3 years ago

Stunning, beautiful once again, thank you for talking about, politics, economics and business. "Divide and conquer" is a lot that happens in business and politics nowadays. We have this capitalist monopolist called dangote in Nigeria, he has gotten so big to the extent that he alone influences the government policies, when the governments want to make economic decisions, they tend to want to revolve around this huge business which of course to me affects smaller businesses and innovations which can create more employment for people at grassroots of entrepreneurship.

A two party system often makes it difficult for people to have more choice because sometimes I believe when people have more choice it wouldn't be easy to restrict them to making decisions that would only be a win win for politicians.

Controlled Opposition is even more interesting, in my opinion it feels like "when you cant beat them then you join them" I have some bigger businesses buying up smaller businesses just to reduce the competition and even allow them to keep their respective brands and name while being at the helm of the affair underneath the whole thing.

Once again, well written, the best.

I like the idea of economies being dominated by many small businesses. I believe small business can provide good outcomes for people in terms of a more motivated working environment and more choice in terms of goods and services. Small businesses should be able to compete with big businesses if success was purely about meeting customers needs and wants. However, business and politics are intertwined. Big businesses have been given the upper hand and the gap in size and wealth between the big and small keeps growing. It has reached a point where it is going to be very difficult for this gap to ever be bridged.

I doubt the gap will ever be bridged. This is because it differs a lot. The big businesses wants to maintain the monopoly they enjoy from the government and hence making it difficult for smaller businesses to thrive as a result of government laws and reforms which are majorly in the advantage of this huge business. I for one feel there should be competition so that at the end of the day exploitation will reduce and monopoly wouldn't thrive.
