Hello, dear BEEluvs! For today's blog, I'm going to share my recipe for cooking Filipino Sweet Style Spaghetti. If you're craving some mouth-watering food that suits your budget and can serve many servings to your family and friends, then this is a sign that you should cook this delicious spaghetti. This recipe is also great for a small business without requiring a large capital of investment.

Let me take you back to my Senior High School years when this small business helped me a lot with my daily allowances. To the students out there, I hope this recipe will help you start a small business while studying.

Ingredients and Costs:

  • 1 spaghetti set (1 kilo pasta/1 kilo spaghetti sauce) - ₱150.00
  • 1 extra spaghetti sauce - ₱45.00
  • 1 small onion - ₱10.00
  • 1 bottle of cooking oil - ₱38.00
  • 1/4 kilo brown sugar - ₱18.00
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 pack of 250 grams hotdog (I use the cheaper one, Champion Brand)- ₱30.00

Steps in Cooking:

Step 1: Boil water according to the amount of pasta you're cooking. For 1 kilo of pasta, boil half a cauldron of water. Add 2 tablespoons of salt and 2 tablespoons of cooking oil to the boiling water, then cover it. Turn up the heat to boil faster. After a few minutes, add the pasta to the boiling water. Cook until done and then drain the pasta using a colander.

Step 2: Slice the onion and the hotdogs. Set them aside on a plate and open the spaghetti sauce. Heat the cauldron and add some cooking oil. Cook the hotdogs until fully cooked, then add the onion and cook until aromatic.

Step 3: Add the spaghetti sauce to the cooked hotdogs (I use extra spaghetti sauce in addition to the 1 kilo sauce because I prefer my spaghetti to be saucier to avoid dryness. And yeah, this is optional). Mix well, wait until it boils a bit, and then add sugar to your desired level of sweetness(others use some condensed milk but for me sugar is way more better to balance the sweetness).

Step 4: Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and mix well. Let it cook for a few minutes, then turn off the heat. The spaghetti is now ready to be served.

This cooked spaghetti served as my small business at school, and it catered up to 47 servings, packed in small plastic bags. I sold each pack for ₱10.00. My capital for this small business was only ₱291.00, and I sold the 47 packs of spaghetti for ₱470.00 in one recess. I earned ₱179.00 for my allowance, while the ₱291.00 was used to buy ingredients for the next day. Some ingredients from the first day were still usable for the following day, leading to significant savings to buy another ingredients.

Here are some glimpses of smiles from my satisfied customers who bought my Filipino Sweet Style Spaghetti. They always said it was their favorite recess snack.
