My Go-To Evening Snack Recipe: Spicy Puffed Rice

Hey Everyone!!

Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite quick snack recipes that I love to have with my evening black coffee. It’s a simple and tasty recipe made with puffed rice and spices, which makes a great crunchy snack.

Here’s how I make it:

  • Start by Roasting Peanuts
First, I heat a small amount of oil in a pan and add a handful of peanuts. I roast them on medium heat until they turn golden brown and give off a nice, nutty aroma. Roasting the peanuts really brings out their flavor and makes them extra crunchy.

  • Add Onions and Green Chili
Next, I add some finely chopped onion and a green chili (or more if you like extra spice!) to the pan. I cook them with the peanuts for a few minutes until the onions turn soft and lightly browned. This adds a nice flavor to the mix.

  • Add Puffed Rice and Roasted Gram Nuts
Once the onions and chili are done, I add puffed rice to the pan. You can easily find puffed rice at the market; it’s light, crispy, and perfect for this snack. I also add some roasted gram nuts, which are also available in the market. These nuts add more crunch and protein to the recipe.

  • Add Spices for Flavor
Now, it’s time to add the spices. I use a bit of coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder, along with any other spices I’m in the mood for. As an Indian, I love adding spices to my food for extra flavor! The turmeric gives the puffed rice a golden color, and the spices add a nice kick.

  • Roast Everything Together
I mix everything well and roast the puffed rice with the spices until it becomes crispy. This step is important, as it makes the snack light and crunchy. Be sure to keep stirring so it doesn’t burn.

  • Finish with a Crunchy Twist
Once the puffed rice is crispy and ready, I transfer it to a bowl. To make it even tastier, I add a handful of potato chips for extra crunch and flavor. This step is optional, but I think it adds a fun texture to the snack.

And that’s it! This easy puffed rice snack is ready to enjoy with my coffee. It’s so simple to make, and if you want to save time, you can make a big batch and store it in an airtight container. It stays fresh for a few weeks, so you don’t have to make it every day.

I hope you enjoyed this quick recipe! If you try it, let me know how it turns out. This snack is perfect for anyone who loves something salty and crunchy with their coffee or tea.
