Apple and Cinnamon Waffles

Hello Hivers, are you ready to join me in one more attempt not to kill my family members with my cooking? If so, let's see what's on today's menu.

We are making waffles this time around, with delicious and juicy apples, some extra cinnamon for that wintery feel and smell. They are easy to make, as always, soft and nutritious.

Ingredients:

  • 2 apples
  • 100ml of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • vanilla
  • baking powder
  • 100g of butter
  • 3 tbsp. of brown sugar
  • 300 g of flour
  • 2 teaspoon of cinnamon

Preparation:

I usually start by preparing all the ingredients first, but this time I didn't grate the apples too soon, because they do tend to change color. You can sprinkle them with lemon juice, but I didn't have any lemon on hand.

First things first, get your baker and your mixer ready, while the butter is softening at room temperature. My butter is always in the fridge and it's easier to mix after it was out for a while.

After mixing the butter, I added the sugar, a splash of vanilla extract, and eggs to the mixture. At this point, I was still using the mixer to help me speed up the process. It's really important to get the butter as "fluffy" as possible because it will affect the end result.

After that, I put away my mixer, because I was about to grate and add apples, and for that, I needed some spatula for mixing it all up. Some apples had gone bad, so I ended up adding three in total, but it wasn't too much. I buy my apples from a local farm, and they do tend to go bad, but they have no pesticides on them.

My little one loves apples and cinnamon, so I like to incorporate them into his diet whenever possible.

Going on with the mixture, I added the baking powder to the flour and mixed it well. After that, I gradually added the flour to the bowl and mixed it by hand, until I got a (semi) smooth dough.

It's not supposed to be too smooth, to be honest, because apples give it that texture. You can add walnuts and lemon zest, but I just added a lot of cinnamon.

At this point, it would be smart to turn on your waffle maker, so it can heat up while the dough is resting for a bit. You don't have to wait too much, but enough for it to taste better and for you to clean the mess you made. Just me? Ok.

Once the waffle maker is heated, place two tablespoons of the mixture in it, close, and wait for the sizzle. It will be done in a matter of minutes and you will have an amazing breakfast, dinner, or snack for the whole family.

I added pomegranate and two different types of raisins, to attract my little one because he loves it. Feel free to add any fruit you have, some powdered sugar or whipped cream, and enjoy!
