When I was a noob, a dear friend of mine had thrown names of a few directors and said that I might enjoy their works. That was almost 2 years ago. The noob me was watching whatever she wanted and whenever she wanted but this friend has ruined everything. I'm still a noob but back then I was a carefree noob; now I'm not so carefree anymore. Even when I have watched more than a hundred in the last couple of months, I'm barely scratching the surface of what I intend to achieve. Another friend of mine had called me a cinephile - shocked would be an understatement. An admirer of films, movies, and cinemas - I'm absolutely just that. I haven't seen nearly as many films as anyone would like to assume. So the noob me had never seen a film directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski and decided it's time to start with him. And then I watched Three Colors: Red (1994)

I intend to watch its sequels - perhaps, by the time I post this; I may have finished watching one of them. The thing is whatever or whoever has pushed me to explore the world of motion pictures, and not just watch it for entertainment purposes, I'm glad it happened. I'll tell you how I felt about watching Three Colors: Red (1994) and I wish I could say more about Kieślowski, but how? One film isn't enough to say anything about any director - then again the film was great, and perhaps I can actually say that he's one hell of a director, no pun intended. The plot story is normal yet when you think about it and it's not - like an old manuscript with secrets embedded; nothing is as simple as it's presented. Two people, a girl, and an old man had a chance meeting and the story goes from there. No more spoilers.

I absolutely loved it. Even though it’s not released this year, it has become my favorite watch so far. It was just so beautiful. I had dragged a certain “cracked” one to watch it with me, and she loved it too. It’s not just an emotional film, nor is it just another complex one. It’s a mixture of both and blended so startlingly - the film left me thinking. I was spitballing ideas - what could be the explanation, what was the secret message, or what was supposed to happen but didn't happen? Numerous theories circled my mind - no wonder which is correct.

The film will leave you pondering upon many implications it has. It works in different and parallel timelines, none of which can be certain. A simple gesture can be the highlight of some poor sod's day. What one says can have a severe effect on somebody else. Your presence and absence will have an impact - whether it's good or bad, who knows? And for a second if you think it's a romantic film, you're wrong. There is no ounce of romance here. But the film has a lot to think about.

One thing for sure is that, even if I have seen so many films, I have barely seen anything.
