On the 19th of this month HIVE will have a HardFork and we can wait and see how these changes affect us. I am sure there will be a few posts closer to the time explaining what these changes will be and how these change things up for all of us who are active on HIVE.
I see on the list the HBD held in the treasury is removed from inflation calculations and not sure what type of impact that has on HIVE in general, but is sounds promising.
I have heard that the HIVE Vote has a big change and that is your vote value does not decrease even if your vote mana has dropped. We know the Hive Vote charges at 20% per day so it is advisable to keep your HIVE Vote above the 80% mark. The higher your vote percentage the higher the value of your vote you reward users with and the more your curation rewards will be. This is the current system and this will change.
The new HardFork 28 will see your vote values stay the same even if you had a voting mana of 50%. The only time your vote will be affected is when you have no voting power left and have drained the power to zero.
This change should benefit the smaller account with less HIVE Power and help assist them to grow far quicker. Having stake is what drives your growth through activity and I guess it is more important than ever to hang onto your stake now than to delegate.

Just to give you a clearer understanding of how big a change this is my current vote percentage is sitting at 87.2% showing a vote value of 8.12 HIVE per 100% vote. If fully charged the HIVE vote value would be 9.36 HIVE meaning you earn 4.68 HIVE per vote and those you are voting earn the 4.68 HIVE with the 50/50 curation. This is very big for those wanting to grow as my vote after the HardFork with the same VP and same percentage as I have currently would earn myself and those I am voting an extra 1.24 HIVE or 0.62 extra HIVE each. In theory whatever our HIVE Vote value is you could multiply this by 10 if you stick to the 80% rule which you no longer have to.
I am hoping there will be more manual curation once this is implemented because it does not matter if your Vote Power percentage is at 80% or 60%. We as curators are no longer restricted and can vote not having to worry about devaluing our support to others in the community.
I still remember what it was like starting out struggling to obtain some type of voting value showing you have voted. At the time achieving the 0.001 took ages and fast forward 90 months and that vote value has grown to 9.36 HIVE due to growing the stake. I can see in the future that curation will be my biggest earner out earning the posts I author. I am sure this will continue to grow and the next mile stone is to achieve a 10 HIVE Vote value which will help those I support and any new users I find along the way.
The ability to reward and support the community by your vote is fun and where the real value of having stake impacts those you support. A HIVE value of $5 could be life changing for someone when you vote their posts and could be a big difference if they have no other income. No one knows what is in store for us around the world with so much change over the last decade and HIVE may be it for many to earn a living.

Niice, now you can run it down to 0 mana when you go on vacation, and it will be filled up when you get home. No more babysitting the 80% on your phone.
That would work and now you can enjoy the days off.
This is about the most information I've come across concerning the HF. Thanks a lot...although we certainly need more info and hope some of the witnessing provide that before D-day
We always need more information on any changes.
A big thing not being discussed enough is a big change to keys. Now you can use a higher authority key to do things lower keys do. This now changes and you must use correct key. I don’t like this at all. There are probably people who have been using a wallet key that’s not the wallet key, not many but I have a feeling there’s a few people who lost master key and just kept going because they have a key that does all wallet stuff. This is at least what Devs said at Hive fest on day 1 video.
More people should be talking about the changes to keys. I have a feeling there’s a couple people that will get blindsided by this change.

thanks will add that to the list of things to check... yikes... i know i have mine, but you know when someone says do you ahve your wallet... you still look for it even if you know you do...
Yes if you don't have your master I guess you are running a risk.
Probably only a small handful, but know two personally who mentioned they’re been using a lower key for wallet for years and they assumed they were fine since they didn’t loose master where anyone can find it but rather screwed up not understanding it when they arrived in 2017/2018 and never wanted to start over. Not a smart move once they figured it out looking back but I just don’t see this being discussed at all much so most don’t know they should be at very least opening new account and delegating to it so at least if value gets locked to them they can use while beginning from a new account. Definitely not enough time to power down short term now. Won’t effect many at all but still even 5-10 or so I just wish it had been more publicized since that’s the one change that can lock people out.

This is really interesting and informative. I am curious, who came up with these changes? Was it a proposal that was voted on or something decided awhile ago to trigger at a certain point? It will be interesting to see the effect it has. I'd imagine the change in voting mana will have a big impact.
Must be the witnesses handling this and I am looking forward to this change.
Thanks for the post, ive been scouting a few posts today about the hard fork and changes, i really appreciate the info about the changes. I agree, hopefully there will be lots more manual curation, when i pop on hive i tend to spend a couple of hours reading and voting and commenting all in a go.. i dont come on at regular interval.. upvote 10 posts then return 12 hours later to upvote 10 posts...
i don't like "timing" votes. either something is worth my vote, or its not... i don't want to pratt about and come back later or vote them less because i just went on a hive curation streek and voted all my fav authors all in a go..
heres hoping we can climb that hive value a little bit (or a lot please) over the next very years.

Yes it is going to make life far easier without having to monitor the VP like we have had to.
I think voting is a good change, right now it is too complicated and you have to be a bot to optimize your curation earnings...
I agree and this simplifies things.
Interesting developments.
I must say too @cryptoandcoffee you're ongoing and regular support is a big part of why I continue to post here. So as always, thanks man.
Hope all is good your side 👍🏻
All good thanks. Support is what we should all be doing.
More chicanery with the numbers here. It is the same as removing the debt limit they did previously. Just removing it from the calculations, doesnt make it true. https://gitlab.syncad.com/hive/hive/-/merge_requests/97
Then you wonder what is the point then if it changes nothing.
It reduces the growth rate of the coin supply (e.g. also sometimes referred to as inflation of the money supply). The original code basically had an error that could lead to more supply inflation than was planned. This fixes that error.
Thanks for this info as it is good to know.
Impressive! Am sure thousands of hivers will rejoice with these changes, I can't wait for the unknown changes to unfold.
Thanks for explaining this in layman's terms. I read the official reports but I feel like Forrest Gump when I am reading them. This makes a lot more sense to me.
