Tale Of Healthy Herb Tea

Rooibos Native Herb To South Africa

Magical in the mountains where this herb grows, only in the Cederberg 250 kilometres from Cape Town, now shipped around the world. It has been found the plant is only able to grow in specific small regions within upper slopes Cederberg Mountain Range.

Enjoyed an estimated 300 years ago by the Khoisan (Bushman) peoples, 'hussled and tussled' about for rights of manufacture and distribution around the world I am very happy the original peoples now benefit from the profits made off the plants they originally found.

We grew up drinking tea, seldom if ever given cold drinks bought from a store, adding flavour with a slice or two of fresh lemon, is how imbibed the red tea, other alternative was black tea.

When my two sons arrived I made Rooibos tea as their alternative drink, brewing enough for myself, setting some aside diluting half/half with cooled boiled water that was handy in the fridge. I do enjoy red tea brewed in a pot drawing all the flavour out, strong!

Drinking Rooibos hot or cold depends on your preference, some add a little honey, others lemon slices I have heard of people mixing in a variety of fruit to flavour keeping it cool in the fridge as a refreshing cold drink.

I already want to try that tea, having it here in Venezuela would benefit a lot since it would help in the diseases that have been seen to be more common, such as high cholesterol, heart disease and cancer. It's good that you can enjoy this plant. Blessings and luck in the contest 🙏🏼🤗

You would need to source from tea shops that import or look online, red tea is healthy, we are fortunate it grows here and is always on our shelves for sale.

Used the contest to make more people aware of tea !LOLZ , most have most probably never heard of.

I'll start looking for it, I think that as red tea it will be easier to find it. Thanks for sharing. Blessings 🙏🏽💖🤗

Brand name is Rooibos and will be sold as that everywhere in the world.

Thank you very much 🙏🏼🤗

Back in the Philippines, I seldom drink tea. But when I got here in HK where people drink tea every day, I became fond of it as well...sometimes we also cook soup with lots of herbs. I should have taken photos of our soup yesterday. There were roots that I don't know 😅

Most our cooking is done with plenty of herbs and spices, my taste in life it must have flavour!

Only later on I started to pay attention to the South African tea, I used to consume without knowing which type it is unless it is a green tea which I like and can easily tell.
And when I start paying attention I ended up liking Rooibos tea.

Love my rooibos, brew a pot and keep some to chill off on hot days, nice fresh slice of lemon for slight variation, never drink anything sweet, this suits me fine!

Am not a fan of too many sweets as well, a teaspoon is okay in my tea or coffee.
Enjoy your Rooibos Joan 🙂

!PIZZA

Tea is never taken with milk or sugar, spoils the taste completely! IMHO !LOLZ

Lol you are telling the wrong person, I like my milk lol.

When on a farm I will drink it fresh, used to enjoy when bottled in glass, now hardly have much at all, it's not milk like I knew it!

I don't recall ever drinking fresh milk, I wish I had the opportunity or the keenness to taste it all I have had so far has been processed milk.

It looks healthy but I hope it not tasteless as most of the healthy drink taste bitter heheh. Indeed it has health benefits and you mentioned some bullet points too. I liked it because it doesn’t have any caffeine and I'm actually a coffee addict though grew up drinking tea. I switch from tea to coffee. It was a lovely post for LOH Contest 124 by dear friend @elizabethbit

Good luck!!!

Not bitter like black tea, not drinking any tea with milk or sugar I find this refreshing with earthy tones to flavour.

Wow sounds great, I wish I could taste it. Share someday the recipe of it if possible. Thank you 🥂

I brew two tea bags in a pot and arrive at around six cups of tea.

Other recipes I added a link in content to food, fancy drinks, sweets that have been tried and tested by local folk.

Yes, tea for calm effect, soothing, also important stay fit. All those 3 in1 instant is making everyone add extra pound...

Benefits in this particular tea vary, taste is soothing yet exceptionally refreshing. Still prefer to brew tea in a pot the way it was done when growing up.

Yes, tea in pot taste fresher

A friend recently gifted me a box of Rooibos tea which she bought back from South Africa, I have yet to try it. Using it to cook meat and veg sounds interesting as well, not something I would have ever thought of. Thanks for the recipe!

Tea will go further if brewed in a pot, I place two tea bags and normally get around six cups after a brew. Normally have a hot cuppa and place rest in fridge to cool in glass jug for enjoying during heat of the day.

Cooking I normally use Mutton or Lamb the Rooibos appears to accentuate a unique taste. Place one tea bag in glass 500 - 600ml jug with boiling water let it brew for ten to fifteen minutes to the side before use to draw the flavours out properly. Enjoy 🙂

We've recently introduced herbal teas to our extended family. Now they are discovering the wonderful world of teas. It's a fun new hot beverage adventure.

So many benefits from some of the teas offered from around the world, nice to explore and find new ones, or make from scratch from old recipes elders used with local plants.

Hmmm, I love Rooibos tea, just tastes so yummi !LUV

Red strong and delightfully tasty!

I was never fond of Rooibos in my younger days but started enjoying it a couple of years ago as that's the only tea a special friend drinks. Quite an acquired taste I would say, I sweeten mine with a little honey. Really good and full of health benefits!

When children had tummy problems I added quarter teaspoon honey to one cup in the day for them. Myself I prefer the drink straight and strong with no additives when hot, chilled drink a slice of lemon to the glass not as strong a brew.

Well worthwhile buying if in your region, if you don't enjoy the taste it does very well into other dishes, link to recipes for soups, stews and sweets in the content above.

Have a wonderful day Elizabeth, thanks for the token and for an interesting topic to scribe.

Thanks @joanstewart🤗💜

Hope you get to enjoy it one day 🙂

I just ordered some today!🤗💜

Let me know what you think of the taste 😇

I will! It's on my docket to try tomorrow!🤗💜

Wow, I didn't know how healthy this tea is. Maybe I should give the Rooibo, that I bought a couple of months ago, another chance, because I somehow didn't like the taste ... maybe try it with honey, as you suggested.

Thanks for this very useful information Joan 😊

It is an acquired taste, raw taste of Africa normally is !LOLZ

Don't waste the tea bags if you cannot adapt to the tea, use it in cooking, recipe link is in the content above.

This sounds like a great tea. I never heard of it but if I saw it at the grocers I would definitely give it a try. I like my tea and coffee black. I grew up drinking tea but now seem to drink more coffee. I get a tea called white tea at the health food store which is touted to be organic and no harmful pesticides used.

Beautiful blue color on your teapot, Joan.

Export Rooibos will be branded under that name, we have two varieties locally Freshpack and Laager both with Rooibos behind the name. With this tea being local it is always available in stores.

Price of green tea and other imported teas are by far more expensive compared to the local tea.

Very old teapot that has worked for years !LOLZ Have a great day!

Rooibos tea has amazing health benefits. I give it a try if I can see it Nigeria.

You should find it on the African Continent without a problem, enjoy!

Ok . Thanks

Awesome, I'm gotta find some to try!

Hope you do manage to find it, possibly at health stores.

I know just the one, "Choices" my go to for Natural foods store. I'm so fortunate to live close to this specialty business.

Hope you find it and brew it out enjoying each moment thinking it grew under the African sun.

I did, a worthwhile addition to my Tea stash.

Different packaging, still all from same little region, amazing!

Over here I have always bought Freshpak Rooibos, I am sure it comes in many different boxed styles, always with one word to truly identify is the rooibos.

Enjoy the brew and thanks for the token, have a great day. 🙂

So many of the old ways are now being used to stay healthy. Teas of many kinds have so many benefits. It's wonderful to realize that these natural elements exist and are becoming more of an answer to staying healthy.

Thanks for the link, I always enjoy seeing a video on how things go down.

I hear you on enjoying tea, we keep a 2,5 gallon jug of green tea going in the frig at all times.

We do mix in winter boil cinnamon sticks some days, if anyone has flu some fresh ginger root tea not for me, my preference is toward the rooibos.

Glad you enjoyed the video, always interesting to see the methods used.
