Literature is a valuable part of the Hive landscape and its creative, inspiring and dedicated content creators. Many dedicate themselves to delight us with their beautiful and sad poetry, with the captivating stories and micro-stories that leave us always wanting to taste more of their thoughts and inspirations, and the extraordinary effort that goes into their creation.

The exploration of literature is an expression of the soul. This community was formed because we want to see your most sincere thoughts captured in real and heartfelt pieces, whether long form or shorter pieces. Many of the longer form pieces can be overlooked on HIVE, but we’d like to acknowledge your work and celebrate it.

Saying that, there are no limits in literature and therefore we won't impose them on you! Some of the best writers broke all the rules.

Your publications on the art of writing are always welcome too.

All communities have guidelines for excellent content, and by following these and writing engaging work, you might even be a candidate for OCD votes! Two of our mods are OCD curators and we will do our best to garner support for you.

  • You can post here all your original writings. Plagiarism and reposts can lead to being banned or muted.
  • Please proofread for spelling and grammar. Nothing is more satisfying than reading something well written.
  • Creativity is rewarded. The themes and genres in literature are many, so explore them all.
  • Please no hatred towards other people, groups of people, religions, or personal beliefs. Your characters may do so, but only as a way of exploring larger themes and issues in society rather than clearly conveying the viewpoint of the writer.
  • Feel free to invite your friends to join, sharing and commenting on the posts you like the most.
  • Your posts must be in English or English/native language (bilingual).

Types of Literature We Love to Support - Plus, a Note about the Crafting Process

We really appreciate an extra note about the kind of literature you are experimenting with, and why you may have chosen that structure. As we’re a community focussed on literature, conversations on literature are really interesting to us.

Thus, we also would love to read posts about the creation process, or see a small preface that precedes your writing. What is your poem or story about? What led you to that idea? What did you struggle most with, and what are you most pleased about? Would you like a critique of your work?

The Micro-Story

The micro-story is a very short fiction story, so short that it barely needs a few lines to be told (it usually has between five and two hundred words).
Source.)

Poetry

There are many different types of poetry. Free verse is also appreciated.

We’d love you to experiment with all kinds of poetry, so do a little research and experiment with various forms!

Stories (with chapters) and short stories

We love it when inspiration leads us to make great stories. We also really appreciate posts with a short introduction that explores how the idea was developed, and a ‘blurb’ about what it’s about. This helps our mods and community owners decide what they might read first, and when.

.

We also recommend your stories have an original cover image. If you cannot find an original image, please make sure you source the image you chose.

We are excited about seeing your growth as a writer and hope we can do all we can to support you!

I love writing! I would like to learn a lot more about it too. Also because I was thinking when I am older I want to write books/eBooks. This challenge seems very fun, interesting and educational.

Is it allowed that kids at age 10, like me, can participate in this challenge?
Don't worry, I will try to make my grammar very good. My dad is a proper English expert and he is teaching me a lot about it.

Do I have to mention anyone or put any required tags or just write free and put it in your community?

Is there anything specifically that I have to write about, or can I just write freely about anything?

Sorry, a lot of questions lol, but maybe I will participate to it too. 😁

Hive Tour Update - Communities
Hive Tour Update - Advanced posting

As a writer, I welcome the presence of writing clubs. I hope this becomes a community that can gather all writers around the world, whether they already have a hive account or not. Greetings from Indonesia.

I am trying to learn a little bit about writing and I am working on a story. The last writing community changed its policy, closed it doors, (I thought it was just closed for contest entries), and now I have a muted post that people need to un-mute to read.

Hello and thank you for posting in The Ink Well.
The community is closed for the winter holidays and only accepting entries to the Writing Prize. The Ink Well will open again on Monday 11 January with the Fast and Furious Festival.
Please follow @theinkwell to get the latest news.
Season's Greetings 🎄

Now I have already followed this community, prior to trying to continue the story I was working on a few things I need to know.

1 - Can I post works in progress here.

  • Understand I am talking about a book length story.
  • Not a full story that will fit in one post only.
  • Not a chapter that will fit in one post only.
  • Not something that is ready to be fully published, (I will be using a spell checker and proof reading for errors but the post is first draft status)
2 - Will I be allowed to include links to other parts of the story (TOC) including the currently muted post that people will need to unmute?
3 - Do you plan on implementing or requiring statements that it is original content?
4 - I have no control over if others crosspost my content, I do not expect it to happen, but I do not cross-post my content other than including it in my blog and on my post page when I post through the community pages.
5 - I do not have a University or collage education, I have not studied literature, I am just a guy experimenting with trying to write a Fantasy story

If the community is going to only focus on short one blog post stories then please let me know so I do not waste your time, and before I have a second post from my story muted.

Also the internet is a 24 hour 7 day a week, 365 days a year, and does not close, so if posting during a Closed time is going to result in a muted post I would like to know in advance.

Welcome to our community, our goal is to grow as writers, so we are not limiting anyone in terms of writing, we are not asking anything specific, just that you take into consideration some recommendations when publishing your content.

Everything is explained in our introduction, we have taken some areas of writing to give recommendations, however, they are not limiting.

We want to polish the work of writers and learn from them, as well as recommend the right way to present the content according to the type of literature they are sharing with us.

Thank you for the response, I always try to take constructive criticism with an open mind, if the individual giving can also keep an open mind, and are receptive to questions about their points so that my learning can continue.

There are a few things that still concern me one being the phrase:

as well as recommend the right way to present the content according to the type of literature they are sharing with us.

I will give the community a try, and see what happens.

If you're writing about the world or setting of your story and not writing the story itself, my cousin @oblivioncubed and I run the Worldbuilding community and would be happy to host anything that doesn't quite fit the "story" bill but you still want to share.

We would love to partner with the moderators and admins from the writing club to help promote all aspects of the writing process.

We appreciate your support, surely in the near future, we will be needing some help with moderation, for now, the community is still small.

If you are finding people are posting worldbuilding material instead of stories, send 'em our way! :D

Reposting is not allowed you say - does that include posting stories which have been once posted in another platform and now deleted because the platform itself will not exist after a few days?
I do not want o be breaking any rules here on the writing club. I felt is better to clarify these things before I get started here.
Thank you.

That's a good question. I have a story that I originally posted on a fanfic forum, which I am rewriting as an original story and I wondered whether I could post this story on here.

It's been two months since I asked that and there is no one to answer the questions in this community, its better we find a different one for posting our stories.

I'm new to Hive today, so I really appreciate you getting back to me about this. Thanks.

Welcome to Hive. Freewrite and The inkwell are places where you can write fresh stories. You could try posting your stories on Proof of brain. Hope that helps.

I finally found a community that I love. Where I can express my feelings, and indulge my passion for reading. I like literature. Thanks for this guidepost.

Today I feel happy, to be able to meet this #WritingClub community, because besides I like writing and also a little poetry, I want to share in this community, hopefully I can participate in this community, and become part of the community. @hive-132410

I will try to follow this community and add a note about the text and a preface.

is that ok use translations tools for my writing?

as I like to write poems, not sure if the translated version captures all essence of it.

my English is not professional and I try to change a few words to keep it like the original one.

hope that my writing pleasure you all.

thanks

Just joined this community!

Hoping that I can add a part of me to it :)

Literature is so beautiful. Literature is life itself. Literature entertains, educates and performs a lot of functions

Literature is wonderful. We can learn from it. I'm so glad to understand some facts about literature

In order to write in this community, I must meet some prerequisite such as an presentacion????

I've subscribed to this community for weeks but haven't tried any posts so far. Maybe I'm not a writer, but I definitely love writing.

Maybe my writing is not professional writing, but I love what I write because most of the time, my writing is my personal experience, reflecting my true feelings. I'll do a post now to see how it works in this beautiful community!

Hi, I'm a newbie here and still learning what's Hive... I like writing too and want to hone my writing skills...

This is really very wonderful initiative and I am happy to find out it.

This is what Im looking for. I love writing literature 😁

I hope to write a few short stories in the near future, for sure I will post it here.

¡Hola!
Saludos

Great to see this community. Glad to see like-minded people around Hive lithosphere. I am a literary writer too. Well, I aspire to be a professional. But right now, I am taking this as a hobby. I'll have to stretch my writing muscles again. I am looking forward for more posts here!

Hello :)

I have a story / book I'm busy with that will develop chapter by chapter and possibly within a variety of communities on Hive.

But some of it is pretty gritty (NSFW) as it's about addiction and recovery. And the writing voice needed to depict it will be, at times, as well.

Is your community open to this type of literature, please?

I don't want to upset anyone. Of course.

What about verification process?

Good morning. I actively started participating in hive about 2weeks ago.

So far I've been active in only 2 communities. I've been searching for other communities which suits my style of writing and I think I just found one.

However, I have a basic question. Concerning the story aspect, am i free to include fiction-based ideas??

I'd appreciate your swift reply. Thank you🤗

I recently joined hive and regret not reading this message before publishing my first post. I'll adhere to the definite standards outlined here in my upcoming posts. Thanks for sharing. I love writing and I'm grateful that this community grants me the opportunity to explore my writing skills, learn and improve.

I love writing, so count me in

Hello good day @hive-132410 . Can I retell a real story here using my own creative words? Stories that are published in the internet?
