Land, will it ever come to anything?
I have my doubts, but I am ever hopeful and continue to regurgitate DEC into it. DEC is hard to get in today's Splinterlands world. I get mine from my meagre decreasing rentals, renting my SPS out, and selling off other Splinterlands assets.
What..., you are selling up... you say?
Yes and No. I only recently made a conscious decision to stop playing and focus on Land. Even the BOTS have gone; I can't be bothered anymore.
Playing Modern at the top level may be rewarding, but I find it stressful. Sure you can get 22 SPS per win, and there's no denying that is a good return for a few minutes of playing, but at what cost?
With the separation of Land types drawing ever closer, I know full well a Famine is coming. Look at the prices of Grain generating lands for sale and you will see.
It will get a lot worse soon, and there won't be any for sale unless you include your firstborn as part of the deal.
I have enough, but my efficiency has been terrible in some cases. Baron's Toolbox is hands down the best utility I have seen for Land manipulation, though it still lacks features I would add.
Land such as these might contain monsters, but they are hardly efficient. Besides the Deeplurker at 2200, the others are laughable. Better some than none you say?
But what if other plots have the same low-level monsters working the land? Wouldn't it be better to throw them off, combine them and free up those slots for future use?
What was I thinking when I added these?
What if I discarded anything not generating at least 700?
That was the plan, and that meant some plots were generating nothing after my ruthless actions. The bigger picture looked quite different as these small monsters were making a negligible difference in terms of production.
I could see gaps, and some Land not being worked fully but the big monsters take much of the credit for the hard work, such as the Mountain in Tashuna (top left).
If I could unlock these cards, combine them adding some extra ones while the prices are shit (and they are), then the longer-term view would look a lot better.
These are all being cleared out, none of them produce 700.
In the case of low BCX monsters such as these Goblin Towers, it would be better to sell them off. This is a particularly under-used card but the value is higher than some other Earth-Rares. A swap? Who cares if the card is terrible in the game, I just want the Production Points.
These jungles are about to fall apart, and most of these cards removed. I felt bad for doing it, but smaller tiddly arse monsters don't cut the mustard.
The other reason I chopped all these was to focus on my Lakes. I have LOTS of Lakes, and in the Splinterlands universe, Grain is generated from those murky depths.
I wanted my big lads on the Lakes, and the lesser boys on the Jungles. Who needs wood, it's tough to gnaw on and breaks your teeth.
... which brings me to a gripe. Removing a monster from a Land results in a three-day cooldown. Some of us know this, but what I didn't know is that until the cooldown is satisfied, you can't unlock the card. That's another three-day wait.
For fuck sake, it's SIX days, before the monsters are available as you can't combine locked monsters. This is if you are vigilant enough to keep checking if the cooldown is finished as the unlocking is another manual task.
What a pain in the arse.
Though I now have essentially unworked Plots, within SIX days, all these cooldowns and unlocks will have finished, and that's when the fun starts.
…’it’s also when my DEC starts disappearing down the toilet…*
This going to cost me but what is the point of having a Plot with FIVE 1 BCX Gold Celestial Harpy occupying the slots? I would rather have four of them empty to full with higher Producers, even at a later time.
Make sure you focus the big Production point monsters on your Lakes, Plains, Rivers and Bogs, as well as any Totems and/or Titles.
You can thank me for that tip in a few months.

I remember going through all of this when grain started... it definitely helped now but I still have plenty of land empty and cannot find myself to go and buy more cards for land. Luckily, I have a great surplus of grain for now which seems like a genius move but time will tell.
I guess you are a region holder or multiple tracts? I would focus on the food generating lands. It will be mayhem soon with shortages, that's if people don't fade off in the meantime.
Yeap, I have 4 tracts but they are in a rocky biome so once the changes go live, my grain production will drop to only 12% of my plots being capable of producing it. But I will have plenty of ore!
I did a few battles for fun recently, but I really gave up on the game. I have no idea what my couple of plots are worth. The rental bot I used shut down, so I don't make much now. Are there any still operating? I have a load of cards, but I wonder if they are worth keeping. I missed the good time to sell, but I don't mind some passive income.
I did talk to the boss man at Hivefest and he still seems to think it has a future. I just decided to use my time on other things. Hive does need engaging games.
I switched over to PeakD a few weeks ago having not had any rentals since the bot shut down but I find it difficult to manage so I don't think I'll be adding any more cards. Archamge is more intuitive but it's not really supported any more.
Do you mean SPLEX. Is that still a thing? I haven't looked in a long time.
Yeah. SPLEX. I always got those 2 mixed up.
You have a occupied land as I recall. It will fetch something, so I would sell it if I were you.., but not yet. Not the right time.
Give me a shout when it is a good time :)
I will.
It's a pain, not as painful as playing, don't forget to tip the BT guys!
Playing is not fun anymore. You need 3 brains to process whats going on. In the Beta days I could fight 4 battles at the same time and usually win. Simple is often better.
Are you selling yr Chaos cards...?
Many of them are gone, unless they rent out at 4DEC a day or more.
That's the dang spirit, mate! Get the PP bargains and get them on those plots! Hopefully, you can find some $HIVE profits to throw into land upgrades!
So true, so true. But this is a cost we play to keep the bots from min/maxing their way to passing around the same assets. Stinky business, but what are ya gonna do?!
If I had my way I would:
Everything else can stay the same. It won't happen.
How do you fund company to make new IP if there is less NFT product on the market?
Are the fewer packs more expensive since they are more rare and in-demand for the player base?
I thought the new sales mechanic for Rebellion did a great job of fitting supply to demand and price has been holding well. Imagine when new players find out how awesome this game is!
I meant the reward cards. The end of season used to be exciting, but with nothing of any sellable value, that's gone out of the window. I speak for others who have abandoned Splinterlands for this reason.
The release such as Rebellion are fine, nothing wrong with those.
I've paid the unlock fee for some of the better soulbound reward cards from Rebellion and they rent very well. I get more renting a max Commander Slade than I do any of my Untamed cards!
I haven't really optimized my land at all since the very beginning. I just let it ride how it is. I know I am not going to get rich on this stuff anyway...
I think we all might get a lot poorer. I don't know what telling me to stick with this part.. but something is.
That's not what I want to hear! :(
I've seen quite a few people focusing on buying grain now before its price might skyrocket: I'm completely out the "Land-game", but if I had some I'd be focusing on the grain too, just for the FOMO 🤣
Grain.., until everyone gets bored again and wants more. It will happen, I hope @cryptomancer hangs around to make it all work.
I hope it too, as that would be a major upgrade for Splinterlands: maybe not the more crucial or useful one, but delivering what has been promised is always a sign of strength and professionalism, which can help boost the confidence of players and investors in the game.
So uhhh.. where do you see the price of grain even? Is there even like a chart or so to find?
I keep collecting grain and dec 'for the future' but no idea indeed what it will do. I played a couple modern games this week since the league for the old cards costs way more dec than i produce. But i dont have a lot of cool modern cards and that bums the game..
But uhhh why do you think the price of grain will rise? I am missing soooo much land info since it aint doing a lot
Because the next patch will make only food generating lands create Grain. So anything other than Plains/Lakes/Rivers/Bogs will auto-switch to their own type of resource.
That's a significant amount of land. SPS and Research lands.. as well as your Tundra workers etc.. will need to be fed or stop working.
I started looking at my land with a view to getting more plots loaded up before 1.75 but I can't be assed to deal with it. It all seems so overly complicated to me so I'll wait and see what happens when 1.75 kicks in and take it from there.
Baron's Toolkit is the way to go. Try it.., you can see at glance which lands are not pulling their weight.
Yeah. I pulled it up yesterday after reading your post. I'd been searching for that tool but couldn't remember it's name and then you mentinoed it. Ta!
Hello dear, the information you share with us is very interesting. I have 2 plots, one common natural, which was the one I obtained when I revealed my plot at the beginning, and a natural epic one that I bought a few weeks ago, but in this plot I did invest significant workers, all 5 are golden epics at the maximum, I have a common totem but also an epic title. This year I will evaluate how well that plot produces. Best regards.

Good luck with that, my hopes are starting to fade.

To be honest, I've never played this game, but from what you've written, it looks like a fun game to protect your territory from monsters and create your own team. I guess war is inevitable in the game. I have reviewed how the game is played, and I can say this is a first in my life. I'm doing it because I like and appreciate your writings very much. I wondered what you would say about the characters in the game. I think the choice of summoner needs to be very good to be successful in the game. I don't know exactly, but Pyre seems to be the most logical choice. The strongest enemy can be defended against with fire. I didn't understand the part about waiting for a card to be unlocked to remove a monster from a land.
What I do when I fiddle with Land, I take them out on Sunday, so I know Wednesday is the day to go for it.

Long time ago , that I played splinterlands. But it's still there so it must be evolved a lot?
Oh wow, there are indeed a lot of things I am yet to know about splinterlands. I wish I could get a land, but currently I'm short of dec to rent cards and SPS. Hopefully I will be able to raise money next month so I could start renting cards and SPS in order to advance to the top leagues. It's a lot of work though, but I don't mind at all.
