The more time goes by the less games with original concepts are born
I think this is a very difficult hurdle for developers to jump because as far as original ideas are concerned it seems like anything we can conceive has already been done. When was the last time a truly original game was released that people actually liked? I've played a couple of games that were unlike anything else out there on the market but the games normally didn't sell very well. At the end of the day game devs want to make money so this is probably a pretty difficult thing for them to balance.
That's another problem, people have become so used to the same thing that they often prefer not to try something fresh, something new, they don't risk playing new things because they don't want to waste their time.
I hear ya. I'm not really a fan of FPS games but that seems to be 60% of the market these days.
