Pumpkin progress, report 3

in HiveGarden6 days ago (edited)

I think I wrote my previous two reports in the wrong place.
And that Hivegarden is the right place to report on the progress of the pumpkins.
For those who don't know, I took part in the world pumpkin championships.
More information can be found at this link world pumpkin championships

So here are my previous two reports on pumpkins.
Start
Report 2

What has changed.
First of all, today it rained heavily from early morning, until two in the afternoon.
A nice light soaking rain with almost no wind.
We needed that more than anything.

Last week I planted new pumpkins along with watermelons and melons
And here they are already sprouting
Since the days are warm and we struggle with the sun
I managed to find the perfect spot for them
The cups are small so the moisture evaporates quickly if they are in direct sunlight
The shade between the large hazelnut, apricot and small pear is ideal
Because the sun breaks through the leaves but it is not always sunny .
And I have help from my son, to water the cups if they dry out too much. He planted all of this with me, and now he has brought his machinery to help
He plays around there but he watches the seedlings ,
Which makes me happy because through play he also does serious things. And I can see that he enjoys it

The first two pumpkins that are closer to the yard are doing well so far, and right after the rain I'll have to do some tidying up around them and pulling up the grass.

A few pumpkins are really struggling
And they have signs of drought
I planted some sweet corn with the intention of making it big and giving them some shade . But the corn is struggling too

But perseverance and effort pay off, because the first fruits of the Tambourine pumpkin are starting to ripen.
And another confirmation of how powerful the drip system is, on this pumpkin was the end of the hose that I placed in the row of green beans.
So this pumpkin was watered from the system,it has the largest leaf network.
And I watered the others by hand.

Thank you for reading.
Until the next report.
Stay healthy.

What I enjoyed most about your post was learning that your son participates in gardening activities. Children often learn a lot through play. It's great that he will learn to appreciate plants from an early age!

Thank you, although sometimes the plant gets hurt, but it's all part of learning :)

That's cute. Father and son gardening. I guess his loves for seedlings came from you. Can't wait to see the watermelon and melon grow. More to share with your soon later on.

I like pumpkins a lot. When they arrive, send some to Belgrade!

No problem, just send me your address in a private message :)

This agric mindset is out of the world.

Thank you :)

I congratulate you, you will soon have a great food garden. That is something I would like to have, but my garden is too small. Greetings.

Thanks
sometimes the garden is too big :)

I like that your son is helping too, The drip system really works! The rain came just in time, and it's nice to see the pumpkins and other plants growing well. happy growing and keep going friend. 🌱
