This week's discussion circle has a little more freedom, because we'd like to encourage you to write about the medicinal plant or herb or even funghi you're exploring NOW. What plant are you experimenting with, growing or nourishing yourself with?

Let's start a discussion about herbs across HIVE! From medicinal mushrooms to foraged plants, culinary herbs or indigenous medicines, we HIVERS have a lot to share!

Guidelines

Some Ideas

  • What is your favourite recipe that uses herbs to nourish, soothe and protect?
  • What herbs are you growing?
  • What herbal medicines are you experimenting with?
  • What is your favourite stress busting herb?
  • What herbs have made most difference in your life?
  • Do you grow medicinal mushrooms or use them for your health?
  • What's your favourite herbal tea and why?

https://peakd.com/hive-141827/@clareartista/nettles-a-prickly-love-story Hi beautiful Herbal Community! Here's my contribution :-) on the beautiful living relationship that I enjoy with nettles.

Awesome post @clareartista, I really enjoyed reading it. Plants and herbs really force you to slow down and think about life. I love that you also take the pine cones! Do you collect the pine nuts? Or what do you do with them?

Hi @fermentedphil ! So nice to hear from you here! :-D Thanks for your really beautiful comment - and yes, slowing down is so very core to healing and to stepping into our True Nature, isn't it!
The pine nuts don't seem to develop in these cones, unfortunately... When I lived in Cyprus I remember visiting mountain villages and being astounded by the pine nut cones sitting on the ground with no-one harvesting them - fresh from the cone they were extraordinarily delicious! :-D
But yey, the dry cones make a brilliant fire-starter for my wee stove, which is coming into its own right now, with winter coming...
Blessings!

Oh yes! How could I forget. We also used pine cones as starters for the fires when we lived close to them. I tried to harvest some pine nuts freshly but it is so much work and we do not have a tradition for pine nut harvesting, so I did not actually know what I was doing. The outer shell is so hard to open, there must be an easier way to open them without destroying the delicate nut! But alas.

Yes, right! I feel people are not slowing down enough, in fact, people are speeding up! And they live past all the beauty that nature has to offer.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response!

I have prepared this post with the intention of showing the herbs that I normally use. Oregano, chamomile and lemon I prepare them in a wonderful infusion to alleviate the symptoms of the menstrual cycle, that's why I call it water for women.

These 3 herbs together are a powerful analgesic, decrease menstrual cramps, help the blood circulation in the body, help consiliar sleep, so I like to take my tea before going to bed.

Stunning photography in your post! I have never come across this thistle. I only have sow thistle, and I do not think they are real thistles. You cannot make nice teas as you do.

Thank you. 🙏
Sow thistle has also health benefits... pretty much every plant has benefits, we just don' know them 😊

https://www.healthbenefitstimes.com/sow-thistle/
Beneficial for headaches, general pain, diarrhea, menstrual problems, fever, hepatitis, salmonella infection, wars, eye problems, liver infections, infections, inflammation and rheumatism

We should look for them right! And listen to them and study them. I never knew they were so healthy! I have eaten them in salads for a couple of years now. The young leaves are really delicious.

This is a good one, I am looking forward to all the beautiful entries

Hey thanks for the "Great Post" comment up there!!!

I'll be writing again for sure 🙂!

Awesome post! Tech can help us so much! Especially in tight situations when we need to know if we can eat something. We only need to pray for cell reception now! But with Musk's starlink thing cell reception might be a think of the past.

Imagine having a severe case of diarrhea and being on the side of the road with a tiny booklet, trying to compare pictures and real flowers, while clinching the butt.

Hell No!!! I will embrace tech for that matter! When there's internet 😁

Oh yes, this is exactly why we need immediate feedback apps! In tight situations like this, the only worth of that booklet is the cleanup 😅

the only worth of that booklet is the cleanup 😅

Hahaha good one!

This is way too late, and not necessarily an entry to the competition. I never really do good in competitions as I never know how to follow rules! But here is a post (that does not do any justice) to a local herb in South Africa that has naturalized here. African Spinach or various sorts of amaranthus plants! If you feel like giving it a read: https://peakd.com/hive-141827/@fermentedphil/african-spinach-or-morogo-a

Why are you shooting down yourself on each foot like this? Your post was great!

Oh, thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Writer's curse? Or artist's curse. But I am working on improving my confidence.

Awesome, keep up!
