Our radio!

A lifesaver here at home. It's not that long since we've had this radio. But what a relief! Finally, no more annoying FM stations! Thanks to this modern and smarter radio, which works via DAB and the Internet, we can finally listen to the music we want, without interruptions due to poor reception or annoying radio commercials. Yes, it feels like we finally crawled out from under a rock and with every new purchase we come a step further back in this time. LOL.

Luxury and more living comfort

It is also a personal victory by the way, we can slowly replace all the old things for the modern version, but to get there, it took some time. The finances just weren't there for it. If you have to survive, the most important thing is that you first take care of yourself and your animals. And after that comes everything else. That is simply not important at such a moment, it falls under luxury. Fortunately, conditions are slowly improving and we can start paying attention to that as well. Luxury and more living comfort.

Filling the silence

Radio is an indispensable presence in the house for us, during the day it fills the silence, I am usually home alone with the dogs, and a radio still gives some noise in the background and that keeps the dogs a lot calmer. Moreover, I also keep up to date with the 'news'. Although you can also say that the news you hear on the radio is often more focused on sensation and entertainment than on facts.

But let's be honest, the news is sometimes just hilarious. The newsreaders can sometimes spout the most absurd things, making mistakes that even a child could avoid. It's like they're having a competition to see who can make the most blunders in one broadcast.

Have good laugh with me

I've seriously thought about writing a blog about it. It could be a very funny blog, were it not for my talent not so much in writing satire. Unfortunately! Some of the examples that come to mind of stupid mistakes include:

• On January 9th of this year, the news opened with the following. "It was busy again on the roads this morning. This was already predicted by Rijkswaterstaat because the autumn holidays have ended again throughout the Netherlands."

First, what's so important about fall break that it's the news of the day. But secondly, in which country do they have an autumn break in January?

Another fun one I heard that same week was:

• "From January 27, 2023 to February 9, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Crown Prince Amalia will visit The Caribbean part of the Netherlands".
  
  

I still understand that something like this can be new to some people. It doesn't interest me personally, but what I did notice was that Amalia was called a Crown Prince! Is Amalia undergoing a sex change? As far as I know she was really born as a girl, which really makes her a crown princess.

There are dozens more

These are just a few examples. I could name dozens more. Maybe another time. For now it is enough to understand that I often shake my head during the news and then end up in a fit of laughter.

The soundtrack to our everyday lives

Well, I'm digressing from what this was about. Today's everyday object. The main thing this blog was supposed to be about. The radio itself. Whether it's the Classic Rock on Arrow, or the relaxing 'Light & Easy' (often swoon-worthy) music on Candlelight that I prefer during the evenings and nights, radio is the soundtrack to our everyday lives and we appreciate it every day.
