Twelve weeks of summer holidays

I wrote about it before but it's that time of the year again so a hot topic in our house hold: the summer holidays. Friday was the final day of school and tomorrow the final reports will be available to check how the kid has done, I'm proud of her either way because she is learning Spanish rapidly and I have to laugh whenever she tells me I'm saying something wrong OR when I correct her in her mistakes (it happens, lol).

Yesterday we had a great example of her speaking it quite well when I had to look up to check if I remembered the Spanish sentence correctly to ask if we could take home the food that was left over. She then instantly told the sentence as Google translate told me the answer. I don't care if her 10's drop to lower grades because I see she's doing her best and she can be freaking proud of herself either way!

But now school has ended and it's not until halfway through September that school restarts so I'm facing twelve (long) weeks of spending time with her no matter what her or my mood is, it will happen, haha. This year I prepared her that I'm willing to swim with her almost daily but she has to take into account that some days I just can't do much. So far, so good.

List of activities

Where I failed to finish my holiday activity book last year, I'm now starting the holidays with a kickstart thanks to what I actually got prepped last year and the things that I added before the holiday started. As she loves to help me, I threw in some household chores for us to do together so it's easier on my back.

I'm going to document all the things we did and also going to sort through old stuff which we want to keep, add to a craft book with memories of her creations as well as family pictures together with some crafty stuff we create together. It's been long overdue and this time I'm going to nail it by not doing it all at once but in steps.

Menu for own cafe

My daughter said on Monday morning that she wanted to create her own menu for her own "café", I proposed to check Canva for inspiration. She can do it herself without my help but it's cool to see her feeling inspired by other designs to get her started. We found this one on Canva:

The process

I told her how I'd create it, which was to use coloured cardboard for the menu itself and create the drawings on white paper, cut it out and then stick it on the menu. She started drawing and created these:

I especially love the coffee and tea ones! Simple but cool!

And then she came up with the middle part:

I told her that there were some spelling errors as well as little space for the prices so I proposed writing the correct words on this version and that we'd make a new one to make it fit. In the end she asked me to write it for her as she had difficulties getting it right with the spacing for the prices. We decided on a purple marker for more fun colours:

And then we glued it on the cardboard together:

I removed the name of the Café because it was too personal for me to share here..

She forgot to draw the blueberries in the first place (after pancakes with) and I accidentally uploaded the wrong picture oops, here's the right one:

That's a wrap!

This was our first craft moment in this holiday and I have to say it was a fun one. I love how creative she is. Afterwards she asked me if I could pretend to be in the café and order something, which I did. She kindly took my order, wrote it all down and then let me pay with her fake money. This way we can practice some basic maths in a fun way too.

Nice! I love the cute drawings. 🥰

My daughter's closet is also full of her DIY stickers, mostly small drawings like these.

Haha so you're not the only one that has a truckload of DIY stuff at home :)
I have a hard time throwing things away but sometimes you have to throw out some stuff, I take lots of pictures so that helps. This one will be used to play café though :)

Love this idea! It's also a long holiday here but this is gonna be my inspiration when my niece grows older or when I'll have a kid one day haha. That's really creative :)
