Laziness and its dominance towards the world’s evolution till date. SLOTH

I can assure you that after reading through this post, we will all be opened to see laziness from a new perspective and probably thank the term laziness for the privileges we all have been enjoying in this new era.

What do we all know as laziness?

Laziness can be described as the unwillingness to engage one’s self in activities despite having the strength and ability. I would also describe slothfulness as the attribute of looking for easier and faster ways to get things done.

Right from the early men at the stone age, humanity has searched for easier ways to survive, this attitude has given birth to so many inventions that we see around us today and that has enabled a better life.

The first set of men that lived had to hunt for games by running after them with stones in other to feed, but as time goes on, more lazier people were given birth to, this set of people felt so reluctant to pursue animals all day only for them to be outran most times leaving them with no food to eat, so they had to come up with more easier ways to hunt. This gave birth to the invention of trap setting, where a man can set a trap at a location where it is likely for animals to go, and coming back later to find his meal trapped.

As new generation arrived, they had to keep inventing things that would make hunting much more easier and faster, as animals would not allow walk into traps. So they had to make spears, bows and arrows, these went on till the invention of guns and other easier and faster ways to get animals killed and captured today.

Also, at the early ages, men were used to travel on foot , most men spent more of their days transporting, in fact some even died on the road from sickness, tiredness and some other diseases they might have been exposed to while traveling, some where killed by wild animals.

But at the beginning of revolution, new and lazier generation discovered that they could transport with their goods, easier and faster with the use of animals like houses, donkeys, cows and camels. They later created manually operated wheels like bicycle to avoid the cost of animal maintenance, before they eventually created automatic means of transportation which includes cars, air plains, ships and so on. All were created out of the fact that humanity felt the reluctancy to work, thereby sorting for easier ways to get things done.

The smarter we become, the lazier we are.

I had always imagined how it would feel like to travel across states on foot, spending over four months just to get to a particular destination. It is not like this new generation do not have the ability to carry out those assignments, but we have developed new and better ways due to the slothful nature of man kind.

It appears that over time, newer generations become lazier, thereby inventing things to ease us from stress, and to make the world a more convenient place for habitation, so also is the smarter we become. I wouldn’t be surprised if the general means of transportation in the next generation is through teleportation.

Mankind has always looked around for ways to become lazier day by day in all aspect of life. The early men made inventions to survive, but today inventions are made to satisfy our slightest convince.

Look around you, every single thing you see is as a result of what laziness and slothfulness has contributed to the evolution that has made the world a better place till date.

Starting from the cars we drive, the simple tools we use at home and at workplace, the machines we use for farming and cultivation, the cameras we use to take pictures, the gadgets we use for sending information across the world, even down to the remote we use to control our television set while seated meters away, you can imagine how lazy our generation is, as a result of the various inventions that has contributed to the evolution.

Now the question is:- Would you rather remain lazy or go back to the way things were being done in the early days ?

Thank you for reading through my entry for the #pob-wotw. Stay blessed.

This is surely another perspective to look from. I would rather be lazy and work smart instead of working hard.

Thanks@coporateay
Being reluctant to do so many things the old ones do engage in, in the past really brought civilization to us and smarter ideas making our work more faster

I think your question at the end is a trap :) lol

I would have liked to see an additional counter-position, such as that the conveniences created by technology lead out of one hardship but into another. Liberation from all effort will not be achieved, in my view, and in some ways the division of labour has led us to experience a kind of biblical Babel, in which one specialist no longer understands the other. :D
In my country this is called "specialist idiocy".

The world today makes it much more difficult to be a generalist, an all-rounder who knows about several areas, not just one specific one. So I would add that while modernity is a blessing, it is also equally a curse. In a way, the smart devices and applications always make me dumber when I try to rely on them completely, for example by losing my sense of direction, so that I follow the navigator like a blind man who no longer pays attention to the way himself.

Since civilisation is only a thin varnish that can tear at any time, opinions differ here between those who consider survival training important and those who regard it as an evolutionary and outdated remnant. Of course, I would not allow myself to be pushed in my decision for either one or the other, but maintain that the bridge between these worlds is better left open ;-)

Thank you, your text inspired me to write this comment.
