Quick One

A lot has happened since last post.

The Quick One is 2 weeks (16 days) old.
Nothing to report; Seems to grow fine.

The other Quick One was in last year's harvest.
I will call it Quick One S1 from now on.
It's 6 days old.

Feeding the Soil

When using living soil or really just compost and clay, it's better to think of feeding the soil, not the plant.

If the plant was in coco or hydroponic or whatever, the salts from the fertilizer would go directly to the plant. In my compost, they also reach the plant, but most get soaked up by the substrate and used by the life in the soil...

Even though I used very little, it might have been too much.
The fertilizer kickstarted the processes so much, that the soil starts to totally disintegrate.

At least, that's what I think happened.

The leaves lost their gloss, which could indicate too much free nitrate...

Effect

Whatever happened, the effect was quick.
The buds are swelling nicely and they also smell great.

The plant now looks much more like what I see on the internet.
With yellowing leaves around the bottom.

Whatever

Whatever happened, it looks ok.
The plant looks happy, just not as green and young anymore.
Which is ok.

Maybe the fertilizer killed the fungi?
Maybe it wasn't the small dose of fertilizer at all and the pot is just too small?
Or using the same substrate twice wasn't wise?

Whatever happened, I think I won't be reusing the soil next season.

As far as using liquid fertilizer again, I'll have to wait for the final bud, before I decide.

Sort:
