When I lived in the Philippines, I would sometimes take small packets of my own coffee and a small French press I had with me. At the time I used to have milk with my coffee, so I would also purchase a long-life UHT milk (the popular milk in the Philippines).

I also avoid using mini bar items at hotel, and tend to purchase snacks form the closest corner shops or supermarkets. The mark up on hotel items are just not worth it. Maybe it's because I've worked in the hotel industry for so long, that I just don't want to fall victim to any of it:)
