Spartacus, a coffee-scented story

In front of La Copa Literary Café, in Playa municipality, a peaceful creature was dozing... in an incomplete bed. Because, of course, it was missing the mattress. Nevertheless, he was quite comfortable, slumped in the arms of Morpheus.–Don't get too close, I was alerted by a woman, he has a bad temper.

{I imagined something like this to calm someone's bad temper}

Another woman sitting next to her complained:

–Why do you say that? Spartacus is good.

–Let's not fool ourselves, replied the first woman, rolling her eyes.

So I asked: –Is his name Spartacus? Did I hear correctly? Took another picture without looking at them, Spartacus opened his eyes (I guess because he heard his name) and raised his head. "It has a pretty haircut", I thought. 😁

It turns out that Spartacus is a charismatic stray dog and he's lucky that everyone in this area takes care of him.

They say he cries to the man who sells empanadas in the morning until he gives him one and that he also likes to eat chocolate in any form, sweets, biscuits, whatever. –This is not funny... chocolate makes dogs sick, I said, and they started chattering that if this, that, that, he's like that, why not...

In a closed mouth... you know. Besides who was I to question the way Spartacus lives. Maybe he's a little grumpy, but he is charismatic after all, which makes me wonder sometimes if success and a good life also depend on charisma.

The truth is that we stopped to enter the Literary Café and then we saw Spartacus. I couldn't have a coffee there if I'm on my bike, as was the case. There is nowhere to put it and be calm, and carefree about its safety. _{Sometimes I think a network of cafés for cyclists is a good idea to implement in Havana, something that should already exist, I think... Like thousands of other things that should exist and don't...} (breathes, music)

I went in for two minutes, glanced at the books for one and a half minutes, and spent the rest of the time looking at the furniture and decorations. "It looks pretty good", I concluded. The smell in there almost made me levitate. What does a place like this smell like? Glory. With that in my mind, I cycled home where I prepared coffee. For three. With a dash of milk.

I had no biscuits to offer this time... like that time I had no milk.

I feel like I'm always missing something... _{Sighing}.

But back to Spartacus. I know he is happy and I was very joyful for him. When I visit La Copa again, I will surely bring him some snacks. I know he's been living there for a few years now.
