"The educational system must evolve to incorporate technological advancements while fostering independent thinking and problem-solving abilities."

This is a publication based on the suggested topic proposed in the Hive Learners community through their discord, which on this occasion is "No Phones Allowed".

I will distribute 3% of the rewards obtained in this post, among the best comments, who will receive a tip when the rewards are collected.

Welcome to my blog, dear and esteemed readers and followers.

Today's topic is about whether smartphones should be allowed to be used in schools by students.

That is, we all know that for a long time now, smartphones have been a great advancement that has helped us improve the speed and efficiency with which we communicate and learn about things.

Nowadays, everything is globalized, and through the internet, we can access any information in a matter of seconds. Quickly, using any search engine, we find what we need.

Similarly, we can access news, communicate with our relatives in different parts of the world, which makes the speed at which information travels help us precisely to have knowledge of any area very easily.

It is evident that today students can be easily distracted using their phones in their classrooms because they can watch videos.

They have a wide variety of online games that will distract them from classes, or they can simply chat with the girl or boy they like through their phones.

So this can be a means of distraction.

And not to mention artificial intelligences.

A young person or a child can be in a class, the teacher asks them a question, and this young person, without even needing to type it on their phone, can simply, via a voice command, tell the artificial intelligence to search for the information and give the answer to the question the teacher asked.

And in an earphone in their ear, the young person will have the answer immediately.

What the teacher is asking then would be a setback because the young person or child would not be using their critical thinking or their ability to search and think to perform or be a good professional in the subject they are studying.

In this sense, I believe that, as I have said to other colleagues in other publications I have commented on regarding this topic, it is important that there is regulation or a norm regarding the use of smartphones in educational institutions and the use of artificial intelligences also in educational institutions.

I believe that the focus that should be given to all this is rooted in the change or reform of the way each child and each young person is educated in each school grade, from infants to adults who are doing postgraduate or specialization studies in their careers, because the focus, I believe, should adapt to the new times we are living in, and education cannot be the same as it was years ago when there were no smartphones.

So I think the educational system should be reformed to include these tools with a norm and an intelligent way of using them so that people continue thinking and having the possibility of critical thinking, which is very important, and not losing that skill and not depending or being dependent on artificial intelligences or technology to do their tasks.

That is very important because, for example, if we have a professional or an architect who solely depends on artificial intelligence to make their architectural plans, what would happen if one day there is a global debacle or for any reason we no longer have access to artificial intelligences?.

What would happen to all those architects and engineers who have now solely depended on artificial intelligences to do the calculations or draw the plans?.

DIVISORFIRMAHIVE502.png

We could not then build more houses or build more machines or inventions because the engineers would not know how to do it, they would have forgotten how to do those tasks.

So I think it is important to use artificial intelligence as an enhancer of these things and to use smartphones as tools that will help us quickly access the information we need so that students can complete their studies more quickly.

Because if they have faster access to the information, they can complete their studies and professions more quickly, which means we would have a greater number of professionals, engineers, doctors, and lawyers for the planet to solve and help in different areas.

Then we would have more prepared people who would, in turn, allow us to evolve and take the next evolutionary step as a species.

So I think that if the educational system is not reformed to include smartphones and artificial intelligences, things will get worse in the short term.

It is necessary that globally these regulations that should be applied for smartphones are studied and I do not believe that the use of smartphones in classrooms should be avoided but rather the opposite.

The use of smartphones should be integrated into classrooms and be elements that help and contribute to studies, as they are precisely designed to facilitate things for us, and we should learn to use them properly, not for them to do things for us, but to help us achieve better results and that we continue having that identity and the capacity for critical thinking and continue doing things by our own means in case we do not have that tool.

So I believe this is something very important and I think our future as a race and as a species should go in that direction.

There is always an advantage and disadvantage to everything. And I agree with the fact that there should be regulations to the use of smartphones for students. Because it can’t be banned from use because of its advantages.

I think that in most matters of our life and learning as people, the fact that attention must be paid to education stands out. It is essential to improve it, and integrate it to the new times, adding capabilities without subtracting or prohibiting things. The solution is to add, never subtract.

Good and controversial topic. I don't really agree with what you expose, I would prohibit cell phones in class, in the same way that it is forbidden to shout in class or it is forbidden to hit a classmate. The use of cell phones is distracting.

Another thing is that with the current study palanes, where there is no time to check sources, where they indoctrinate more than educate, maybe teachers are not enough. In this sense, I am sure that for students an AI is better than a human teacher.

Best regards @manclar.

I do not know, I still think that it is good to ban things, rather you have to educate and learn how to use them, but of course those who use them bad always exist, the same goes for firearms, they are not bad in themselves , but the humans who use them to do evil.

We may reach the conclusion, which, after all, humans are the ones who must be prohibited on the planet. 😀

In any classroom, as in any time or place, there are things that are allowed and things that are not allowed. For example, I am not in the business of educating people not to come into my house. No one enters my house that I do not want to enter. 😎

Smartphones have both advantages and disadvantages. With the availability of AI (Artificial Intelligence), many people no longer want to think or use their brains to solve problems; instead, they prefer to go online and search for answers to their questions. Even if a law were passed to ban smartphones, there would still be people who would break it.

It is a question of education and also of presenting to people in the correct way the benefits of this, if you read the answer I gave to rare gem, you will see the way in which phones and AI can be used correctly, and at the same time encourage young people to use them correctly.

It is a great thing that technology has helped humans in various ways. And I believe there are advantages and disadvantages to everything. Regulating the usage of phones by students would be a great idea but how are we sure duly laws would be followed by the students. Taking Nigeria for example, can we say students will adhere to the rules given to them over the usage of mobile phones? The minds of these curious students would want to explore which will lead them into inappropriate things.

I perfectly understand your concern, let me tell you that I believe that we can go much further with these young people if, for example in Nigeria or any other part of the world, we told them that for their contribution of use or idea of useful use with smartphones and The artificial intelligences to which they contribute will receive a scholarship or special benefit (perhaps financially, food or tax reduction for that person or their family). I think that this, to give you an example, would change the panorama and the general feeling around these tools. This would definitely allow the focus of all the students and population of Nigeria (and also other countries) to see more of the positive and productive approach of using this.

It's a shame that the governments or those in charge have not implemented this idea, which I'm sure seems good to you. I await your opinion, my dear rare gem.

You are right manclar but you know we can't control others mind, even when given a golden opportunity such as scholarships, those that would misuse phones will still do so

Then taking your foundation as an argument, it would be better not to give opportunities to anyone, right? , if your answer is "yes", now you understand my attitude for life and why I do not like to teach or explain things to people, especially the younger ones 😂

It should be something good for education, but no. It's all about extremism. But there will be no balance, cell phones have been banned in classrooms here in Brazil. Now any educational advancement will take years to overcome this obstacle.

It is a pity that they have taken that decision, I suppose they are not yet prepared in the mentality to take that step. I trust that soon they make a big mistake, prohibiting it is a great delay. Hopefully, with adequate regulation, they start other ideas, a better way of thinking.

In Brazil being the largest country in this continent, I think it is very important that this type of technologies are taken into account. Telephones should not be baned, but correctly educate people in their use and abuse, and implement new educational forms.

I still have some hope that they change their thinking, we need it if we want to step forward as a species.

I don't think it's possible to reverse this situation. At least not in the short term. In my view, we will be stagnant for a period of time that will make us fall behind countries that attempt a revolution through digital education.

That is one of the main obstacles. While other nations are advancing, those that do not decide to incorporate or adapt are left behind, losing positions worldwide.

It’s a pity the youth of this generation now tag doing research on topics as stress, because there is a better alternative ‘AI’, forgetting that AI comes through research and this is not the right time to stop that. Phone has not been legalized but students are using it secretly in the classroom. Legalizing it will just make it worse. Even if there are strict rules and regulations backing it up. My generation will prefer to break law.

I have a different opinion than you, I believe that the tool should be regulated and used, it is an educational issue, as long as prohibitions and sanctions are considered, obviously young people will be more interested in using the tool, simple psychology. But I respect your point of view.
