A TRUE LIFE STORY.
Hello friends! trust you're doing okay? I would like to share some of my life experiences as an artist here. I've hold them for too long and I feel it's time to let it out!! I hope you find it interesting...
Often, people who do not comprehend the value of art view an artist's work as a frivolous pursuit. I remember meeting a woman who, while viewing my exhibition, suggested that I was wasting my time and should focus on selling necessities instead. However, she was unaware that her words were suppressing my creativity, talent, and livelihood, as well as silencing the voices of those who are marginalized.
Art has the power to express the sentiments of the people and narrate profound stories about historical events, providing valuable insight for future generations. This art piece was created after I had a poignant experience with a child in 2023, during the old naira note crisis. While waiting for transportation, I met two young girls who offered to clean my shoes, and after giving them 200 naira, they shared that they had gone hungry the previous night. This encounter evoked strong emotions in me, and I created this sketch, titled 'Empty Pot,' as a response. Every art piece has a unique story behind its creation.
Thanks for the visit.
