The falling rain creates a deafening roar above the broken windows as it crashes onto the shattered glass and concrete below. The cold wind picks up, howling through every cracked and rotten window in search of an escape. A fire burns flickeringly in the small fireplace, providing minimal warmth to the dismal apartment.
This stormy winter night is my dark paradise Wrapped in its frigid embrace I lose all sense of time as I sit here amidst this ruins dreaming of happier days long gone. though the darkness may seem so eternal I know eventually this storm will pass and my bright future awaits me in someplace else Just like it has done every other time. But for now, I'll luxuriate in this stormy paradise and dream of a world where rainbows fill the sky.
The days pass slowly in this dark paradise, yet I'm content being here. As the thunder bellows and lightning flashes across the night sky, it gives me a sense of peace amongst all this chaos that surrounds me. The wind howls outside my crumbling walls as if to remind me that nothing ever stays still for long; everything can change at any given moment. But I am unafraid because no matter what happens or where life takes me, these moments will remain with me forever – like an old friend who always offers comfort during difficult times.
As dawn begins to break through the darkness, illuminating my little corner of solace in its golden light, I thank fate for allowing me just one more day in this place before setting off on another journey tomorrow – somewhere out there beyond those broken windows is a world full of opportunity and hope waiting to be explored. Until then though I stay put– taking pleasure from every last ounce of beauty hidden within these ruins until they too become something else entirely someday soon...
This was a poetic tale from the city of Lazarus, A dystopian metropolis half sunken in the sea, along with ai art created with stable diffusion / Midjourney ai browser applications, inspired by the words of the poem. War and climate change took its toll on this and every other city we know. This is one of many short tales of a young woman ("the narrator") and her daily life surviving in the ruble of the modern world.
I am adding individual poems to a collection that I plan on eventually publishing into an ebook.
Thank you for reading.
