It's never a good sight

The 2023 presidential election just ended, a lot was different about it . Even though I was barely exposed to the previous once or I wasn't grown enough to understand what was going on, I could just feel it, the youths went all out due to their vision of seeing this country flourish, be conductive, be built on transparency and less lies, the ex president also did promise them a free and fair election which they believed in.(I used they cause I didn't).

During the process in some unit people were beaten, injured but many till stood their grounds for who they needed, after the election was concluded we found out that we are in a country of no country, the democracy they established was to deceive the poor masses we have a voice when clearly we don't.

The youth were urged to go for protest however didn't cause of the fear from the last massacre.

Later one evening of another day we were discussing in fear, imaginations and assumptions about the whole process leading to war, my grandma who witness the previous swore for us saying it wasn't a good sight, she proceeded in telling us her story,
I felt it was the usual cause she did tell us about it most times but the story was different and cut my attention.

The war has never been a nice sight grandma started; many horrible things are bound to happen, many people died not cause of the weapons but cause of hunger, she saw many live their children just to survive,
The most heartbreaking sight for her was when a woman who just delivered left her baby in fear she won't have means of feeding her.

My husband wasn't with my grandma continued, he had gone for assignment which were school related,he sent a message which fortunately found it's way to me I was to meet him at a base camp where most people based for shelter.
She had three children the last was barely a year old. She embarked on this journey when the soldiers attacked their village, she barely had anything asides the garri she was frying before they arrived which she quickly tied in a waterproof that was the only means of survival,
According to her at a point no clean water was found the were drinking rain water or at times stagnant water, it was that bad she added.

On her way to the base camp sha encountered many tribulations, people's daughters were forcefully taken from them, some mothers barely found their children, the little ones played around till cause the weren't aware of what was really going on.

She got to the first base camp which was definitely the wrong one, if you get to the wrong camp you had be raped and the man beaten brutally,
Most women died in the process due to their weak state,and those who survived were enslaved. Shee was nearly been approached when a man who knew her husband sneaked her out no one knows what her fate would have been that day, she got to her husband which was in good health.

Many died then she continued then think of now where most places is civilized, many technology have been brought to the system, most children are not used to hard labor not to think of surviving rough situations.
Anything we do we should pray it never ends in war the blood shed will be massive.

I do hope we get a better leader in a peaceful way, and I have faith the God of the oppressed hasn't left us Amen.
