Algo muy popular dentro de la cultura venezolana es lo que se puede conocer como “apodo” o “mote”, en el que es un sobrenombre el cual muchas veces puede llegar a sustituir el nombre real de alguien al punto de que muchas veces se pueda conocer a alguien por su apodo en vez de por su nombre, algo que de plano suena loco, pero que realmente es así..
Y es que es algo que es muy común que, entre los mismos integrantes de la familia, entre amigos, conocidos, se crean apodos y algunas veces llega al punto de que inclusive cuando alguien se hace conocido por hacer algo, simplemente se le crea un apodo y ya todos le van a conocer por ello, pero algo particular de estos apodos, es lo estrechamente relacionado que pueden o no estar con la persona a la cual se le coloca el mismo.
Ya que por ejemplo, nosotros entre los muchachos del liceo (reconozco que estuvo mal, la verdad, pero eran otras épocas y otros pensamientos en aquel momento), teníamos un amigo que era un poco amanerado y nosotros entre todos los del salón decidíamos que su apodo iba a ser “el macho” y aquel personaje no era más femenino porque no podía..
De igual manera, es común que si alguien en algún lado necesita de alguien simplemente te van a decir que “hables o contactes con tal” y es que por ejemplo estos apodos pueden o no ser ofensivos dependiendo de la relación que se tenga entre ellos, y como digo con el tiempo lo que era su nombre de pila va a ir desapareciendo y convirtiéndose el apodo en su nuevo nombre.
Y es que una vez estábamos buscando a una persona que hiciera un trabajo de carpintería y se nos ocurrió preguntarle a mis tíos sobre algunas referencias y entre todos coincidieron que la persona que nos podía ayudar eran dos, o “el rey de los cachos” o “el conejo”, ósea imaginen aquel escenario jaja.. nosotros al preguntar por los nombres reales simplemente quedamos en la misma, pues, como comenté, los nombres se van perdiendo en el tiempo..
Y no nos quedó otra que “contactar con el conejo” para hacer el trabajo, razón por la que luego de hablar un rato, este supo que veníamos de parte de mis tíos porque ellos son quienes le inventaron el apodo del “conejo” y es que el mismo provenía de una de las veces que esta persona quiso implementar una dieta 100% vegana, y al este ser gordito y pequeño, no hallaron otra que ponerle y pues así se quedó bautizado con dicho apodo..

Likewise, it is common that if someone somewhere needs someone they will simply tell you to "talk or contact so and so" and for example these nicknames may or may not be offensive depending on the relationship between them, and as I say over time what was his first name will be disappearing and becoming the nickname in his new name.
And once we were looking for a person to do a carpentry job and we happened to ask my uncles about some references and all agreed that the person who could help us were two, or "the king of the chunks" or "the rabbit", so imagine that scenario haha ... we to ask for the real names just stayed in the same, because, as I said, the names are lost in time ....
And we had no choice but to "contact the rabbit" to do the job, which is why after talking for a while, he knew that we came from my uncles because they are the ones who invented the nickname of "rabbit" and it came from one of the times that this person wanted to implement a 100% vegan diet, and this being chubby and small, they found nothing else to put and so he was baptized with that nickname ...
