Suzy had just stepped out of the hall where the convocation ceremony was being held. The governor was present, alongside other top dignitaries in the state. The place was a bit crowded, and she needed to get some air. "I need a picture, I think I look beautiful," she said. Handing her camera to a passerby who agreed to take the shot, she struck a pose, leaning against the car behind her.
In a split second, she heard the sound. It was the sound of glass shattering. It was the windscreen of the car. A bit dazed and confused, wondering what was happening, she suddenly heard gunshots and screams. Everyone around her dropped to the ground. She quickly lay flat too.
Then she saw them, masked men dressed in black. A black van had stopped nearby, its windows tinted and engine still running. The driver remained in the driver’s seat as more masked men trooped out of the van and headed towards the hall. She could see the policemen and secret service agents running to the entrance. Gunfire erupted between both sides. Suzy lay still, her face to the ground.
She was thankful a stray bullet had missed her. She could have been seriously injured or even dead by now.
