This is my post for #freewriters Monday prompt there is hope hosted by @mariannewest

As I was driving home this lizard appeared on my truck door, he was hanging on for dear life. I kept my arm as close to myself as I could get it to keep from scaring him. He had his little claws dug into the window opening as I drove 45 miles an hour. I talked to him all the way home, giving him encouragement to hang on.

When I got to our gate he was still there, I opened the truck door an did not see where he went. I thought, good he hopped off and is fine now he made it home.

Later I had to get something out of my truck and there he was, on the inside, I tried to shoo him out the door but instead of going out he jumped onto the steering column and went down the hole of the shifter. I went from thinking there is hope to thinking he has had it now. I never saw him again, I hope he can find his way back out of there....

Today my plan of catching 30 pounds of trout in the old inlet then going to Campbells' Pocket and catching 100 pounds of sailcats did not work out for me. I crossed that rough ass river for 6 small sailcats.

I fished everywhere in the old inlet and caught one 8-inch trout that I threw back because it was too small. When I left the old inlet I decided to take the back way out, what a mistake that was. It has been a long time since I went this way and it has filled in. I ended up having to row because it was so shallow.

I fished Starvation and it lived up to its name. I never caught a fish there so I went to Campbells Pocket where I caught several trout but they were all too small. This is where I caught the 6 small sailcats.

I went back across the river and up the creek where we have been fishing but have not caught anything. I anchored between the levees and started catching sailcats. I caught 150 pounds and never moved my anchor. They were still biting when I left but I was out of ice and beat. Never give up, there is always hope.

I hope the little critter finds his way out. You have a great attitude @myjob . I’m sure everything will work out.

I have not seen him any more so maybe he did.

Sometimes you do all you can ... and sometimes, things go down the shifter ... but we are not called to give up... 150 POUNDS of sailcats! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

yes, we are not called to give up. I am very pleased with my catch, I hope the price holds.

I had that with a snake into the guesthouse. It hid behind the kitchen. I'm not sure it ever left. I left the door open, still do daily but am not sure if there's hope it found the way out. 🍀💖
