A crowd of monsters. We're all monsters. Monsters aren't evil, but they're capable of evil. We're all certainly capable of evil. We all hurt, hurting others is not evil, it's something that happens. When does it become evil? Intention has a lot to do with it. There's also intention versus impact. One may not intend to hurt but the impact of one's actions can still be hurtful. When does that become evil? What is evil? Is there evil? If everyone is capable of evil, what is evil? When does something cross the line into evil? When there is no humanity, as in one is not seeing the humanity in another and therefore willing to harm them indiscriminately? Yes. When one does not see the humanity in another, one loses their own humanity. That's what Friere was talking about, among others who talk about these things, when he said that the oppressed, by freeing themselves, will free their oppressors. Sometimes I'm a bit uncomfortable with the focus on humanity over other living beings. All living beings deserve care, and all living beings includes this whole planet and every creature and plant on it. Every creature and plant? Even ones that cause harm?
