Joel had always dreamed of being a salary earner. Whenever his uncle who lived in the town came visiting the village, Joel would always request to follow him to town. His uncle had promised to help fulfil his dream once he was done with his O'Level examination since he didn't want to go to university
Immediately.

As soon as Joel wrote his last examination paper, he called his uncle on phone to remind him of his promise to take him to live with him in Ileya town where he'll get him a job. His uncle did not fail in his promise. He helped to secure him a job in a rice processing plant after two weeks when he came down from the village.

He was very happy to start work as a factory worker. The prospect of earning a salary was exciting, and he couldn't wait to get his first pay. The day he got it appeared to be the happiest day of his life.

Joel's joy in becoming a salary earner began to turn into a nightmare after seven months of factory work when he was diagnosed of uncontrollable catarrh and migraine. Every effort to bring succour in his health challenge proved abortive.

Finally, it was discovered he had an extreme intolerance to carbon (IV) oxide and dust particles. This necessitated the doctors to advise that he should stop his factory work, and in fact, not live in any town with any significant carbon (IV) emission, not to talk of working in a factory.

The only place he can live without putting his health to jeopardy is in a village setting without factories and vehicles that emit significant carbon (IV) oxide, in addition to where many plants are available to absorb the atmospheric carbon (IV) oxide for the purpose of photosynthesis.

Based on this recommendation, Joel resigned from his work and went back to the village until his uncle located and rented a one room apartment in a suburban area which was more of a village for him.

Instead of working in a factory, he is now a clerical officer with a salary far lower than what he was earning as a factory worker. He is OK with that since his health issues are gone for good. Besides, his present work is temporary. After a year or two, he will enter a higher institution.

A good salary is not good if you need to pay doctors and medication. Good health is priceless.

Thank you for your entry..

Health is wealth... although Joel isn't earning much now, atleast he's done great for making his health his priority.

Thanks for your comment.

My pleasure
