Two Different Portions of Land

in Freewriters9 months ago

A man bequeathed two portions of land to his two sons. To share the land between the two brothers was a Herculean task. This was because a portion of the land was very swampy and waterlogged, and appeared to have little or no economic value though, a river passed through it. The other portion was a sound solid terrestrial habitat, very attractive.

The older son insisted on taking the good portion because, as a farmer, it would serve his purpose well. But the younger brother was insisting that each portion should be shared so that each person would have a share of both good and bad.

After a long period of wrangling and bitterness, the older brother had his way, and took the good portion, leaving the waterlogged area for his younger brother, who had now become an enemy to him.

As years went by, the younger son could not put his portion of land to any meaningful use until when an idea came to him. Since the land was not good for his farming activity, he'll convert it to a tourist site even though he had no money for such a tall dream.

When he concluded with his masterplan, he approached a bank manager for a loan or partnership to achieve the dream. The manager was reluctant initially but later bought the idea after some consultations.

And so, within a space of 18 months, the most beautiful site in the State was created. A stretch of modern storey buildings were lined up not only for tourists lodging, but for residential purposes.

The river that was a major cause of the swamp was properly channeled, a bridge built across it, with various flower decorations. The existing natural trees there were groomed to provide shades around the bridge area where people go to relax and feel nature. The trees also were particularly picturesque as they reflected their images in the river under the prompt of sunlight.

With this development, the so-called good portion belonging to the older brother reduced to insignificance.

That younger brother had a hard time but learned that with creativity there is no bad land. The farmer might need the water of the river one day.

Thanks for your entry. Greetings @wakeupkitty

With creativity, there's no limit. It's a pleasure reading your comment.
