Some weeks ago I received a letter from a prisoner. I never heard of the guy and his letters didn't look great and although I gave up on writing with inmates I decided to write back. The stamp was expensive and it turned out that messages were cheaper, that is cheaper than a stamp. Anyway, this guy turns out to be a writer and it's nice to read him. The minus is he received my address from an inmate I wrote a few times over 5 if not 6 years ago.
Now it turns out those two were kind of neighbours spending a lot of time together. So I am writing to the neighbour (my new penfriend) and he told/asked me to write to my former pen-friend again.

It's a weird thing to do although they said it's no problem but of course it is. It's a drama, jealousy about nothing, writing longer letters to...as to the former penfriend, blah blah blah.

By now they still live in the same building but in different parts but the drama isn't over and I've had it with the messages of a jealous guy who I never really wrote with but thinks he loves me, claims me and ignores every word I say. If he wouldn't be locked up he would be a stalker.

So after a day of thinking and reading the message the new penfriend writer wrote I decided to stop writing. I don't like the fact my address is spread among people I don't know, being claimed or accused of saying things I never said.
I understand it's hard for the new penfriend to deal with an upset and crying 'friend' who he even let read the letter I wrote to him, but I think that's not appropriate. In a way, he tries to protect the upset friend but he doesn't see he's manipulated and it won't help to let him dream on by saying he will match us. This weekend I'll answer the messages and tell one I stop writing because it's getting out of hand and the other: Don't protect him because not only makes the situation worse!
