Growing up as a young teenager I used to "Scheiße in meine Hose" watching the magnificent Christopher Lee playing Dracula in "scary movies" made at Hammer Films. Usually with Peter Cushing playing Van Helsing. There was also a 90% chance of seeing boobies too! Happy days.
So I was quite excited at the prospect of visiting Bran Castle, the home of Dracula.
Let not my extreme disappointment dampen your enthusiasm for enjoying my upload.
Why am I so down hearted? I find out that Dracula was not real, never lived in this castle and is actually a work of fiction from 1897, written by someone called Bram Stoker, an Irishman who never even visited Transylvania!
There has been a castle on this hill for centuries, but now? Come on let's get touristic. dropping us off our guide said "be back at the bus in 90 minutes"
Dracula my arse, it is now a museum, housing art, furniture and other antiques once owned by Marie of Romania, who was born Princess Marie Alexandra Victoria of Edinburgh, and the last queen of Romania, god these various royal leeches families are all inbreds when you look deeper.
Cue, dingy dark staircase to entertain us and lead us to....
....yup you guessed it......

Well, sure Dracula as depicted in the movies and books isn't quite real but he was inspired in part by a real person. Though he was known more for impaling people than sucking their blood...

Vlad The Impaler was nothing like this Dracula invented by Hollywood. It was one of the greatest leaders of Romania. During his reign there was no theft at all, cuz if anyone would get caught stealing he would get impaled, thus his nickname Vlad the Impaler. His actual name was Vlad Draculea and some were calling him Vlad Dracul(the devil).
