Beauties of Czech Republic: hiking in enchanting Bila Opava Valley

in Worldmappin4 years ago

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

As promised in some of my older posts, I am finally here today with a pretty extensive photo report covering the largest and most interesting part of our recent hike in the Jeseniky Mountains, the second highest mountain range of the Czech Republic. This post will be dedicated to the beauty of an extraordinary place called the Bila Opava Valley.

The official Bila Opava Valley hiking trail starts in the picturesque little spa town of Karlova Studanka and it ends at a famous mountain lodge known as Barborka from where, it is just a relatively short and easy walk to the top of the Praded Mountain that I wrote about in this post last week. The hiking trail covers just some 6 km (3.7 mi), which may not seem like much but it actually leads through a very rough terrain with many difficult passages so the hike can easily take you 3 or even 4 hours, depending on your fitness and dexterity. It is also important to remember that the trail has a significant elevation difference - the beginning of the trail is located at approximately 800 m (2,625 ft) above the sea level but its final elevation is 1,325 m (4,347 ft).

Bila Opava is a boisterous mountain stream and one of the three original tributaries to the River Opava (together with Cerna Opava and Stredni Opava). It is often considered the most beautiful stream of the Jeseniky Mountains as it forms a number of impressive waterfalls, cascades and rapids, meandering through the pristine nature full of lush green forests and unique rock formations.

It was raining a lot in the previous weeks and months so the stream is quite turbulent now and the waterfalls nice and robust. I just wish my cell phone camera supported the long exposure function that would allow me to capture all the spectacular water movement but unfortunately, it didn´t so I had to make do without it. Another thing that my camera really struggled with was the stark contrast between the powerful summer sunlight and the dark shades of the magnificent trees so even though me and my camera did our best, the quality of some of the photos is not as good as I would wish. Yet, let me now show you a collection of 25 pictures of the natural beauties of the Bila Opava Valley that I took during the hike.

I hope you enjoyed this post that was dedicated to a beautiful natural place called Bila Opava Valley. To be honest with you, I am not really sure if this place can still be referred to as one of the hidden gems of my country because while it may still be largely unknown to many foreign visitors, it´s actually very popular with the locals. The trail can get quite crowded on the weekends and holidays, especially when the weather is nice. Rainy days come with much fewer visitors here but it also makes the trail more dangerous because of all the wet and slippery stones that you have to get over so make sure to consider this when planning your trip to this place ;)

Woow, tough competition today so I feel very honored to be one of the honorable mentions :) Thank you so much Donica!

Bila opava is beautiful, but it has one huge flaw: it pretty crowded(!). If one goes to Jeseniky, one usually takes the Bila Opava trail, therefore I personally avoid this popular trail and search for "hidden" gems-trails 😆
Nice photos though! 😏

Definitely hear you on this one. I usually also go off the beaten track. But this trail leads through some truly spectacular surroundings and it´s been ages since I was there last time ;)

All right then! But only for this time 😁

will travel to CZ next week as well (Liberec area)

Cool :) Liberec is close to the Krkonose Mountains, those are also beautiful ;) Enjoy your time in our country!

Wow! This is so amazing. The green meadows and the crystal clear water is so inviting! 😍

Thank you :) Yeah, the water looks very clear and refreshing but it´s super cold :D

This looks beautiful for sure, but also some impressing photos you took. Following your blog from now.

Thank you so much :) Well, some of the shots turned out pretty good but others could have been better for sure :D

Yes true that, but that's part of the photography challenge right? When every photo is straight out of camera amazing, you stop challenge yourself and when you stop challenge yourself, there's also no more improvement anymore. And besides that, every photographer is his / her own biggest critic. At least I know for myself, that I am.

Yeah, very good points :) But I am actually also limited by the capacity of my device because I am shooting just with my old phone :)

Always remember that it's not the equipment making the photo, it's the person who is using it ... and a good photographer can make a better photo with 'a bad camera', than a bad photographer with the best camera.

Just curious: what camera do you use?

An old Xiaomi cell phone :D

Photos look good though.

Beautiful photography.

Thanks :)

Undoubtedly Bila Opawa valley is a very beautiful place and you have captured it amazingly. How beautiful the water flowing through bila opawa stream is looking. The little wooden bridge over the stream is also looking very beautiful. You have put a huge effort and your post and it came out as a precious jewel

Thank you for such a nice feedback, I am really happy to see all of these amazing responses to this place :) Have a great day.

Wooow! What a show! I felt the freshness and the smell of greenery while looking at these gorgeous pics :)

Haha thanks! :) It was my pleasure to take you to this place, Sofia :)

Krásný fotky no jo příroda je pěkná u nás.

To máš pravdu.

Wow, stunning place!! So much green!

Thanks buddy :) Almost as green as the Azores :D ;)

Ahahah I think I need to see it in loco to make a good comparison! 😉

Beautiful. We only went to Prague but I'd love to return some day and explore the country. I already know the beer and food will be good

Yeah, many people only come to see Prague but other parts of the country also have a lot to offer. This post is a proof that we have some beautiful nature in our country too :) Thanks for checking out my blog.

no worries . Great Beer too ;)

Oh yeah :) We are called the Beer Nation for a reason :D ;)

Wow, well I think those photos are great! Looks like a beautiful place, and the old tree stump certainly grabbed my attention - so much character! Great post :)
