Greenery abounds in Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy Scotland in May

in Pinmapple11 months ago

Hello Hello Hivians

It's actually Sunday but I wanted to finish the walk from Wednesday which you can find ... Thank you HIVE for the bollocking.

So this then is Part B of the bollocking!

If you remember we were about to enter Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy.

I left you here ....

image.png

Some of you astute people like @treefrognada asked why it is boarded up. First up the park is over a hundred years old and dates back to the 1890s. The gate house is derelict, but there are allegedly plans to make it a nursery.

It is boarded up because of the the little vandals or neds! If they can't get inside they can't destroy it.

image.png

I do love the two lion statues, again they are the same age as the park and were Roarstored in 2015!

image.png

The vandals even got the toilets closed early!

image.png

Oh look a signpost!

Shall we go see where to go? LFG

image.png

I think we shall head towards the Wizard's Walk which means walking through the tree-lined avenues as I call them.

image.png

There are always pups in the park! Of course you can always tell when they are on the way back as they dillydally! Actually we know this old boy and see him most times we get here, as his walk coincides with our walk from the bus stop (as long as I am not dillydallying too much).

image.png

Bushes everywhere with gorgeous scented flowers, even though I never seem to know or remember their name, there's #alwaysaflower and these pink beauties are just wonderful.

image.png

Trees and grass are everywhere which was what Mrs Beveridge wanted when she got her husband Mayor Beveridge to create the park. It is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of people!

image.png

This is an example of why it is great saving things on the blockchain. Here we are at the end of May and by documenting posts with pictures and date stamps we can see throughout the year how nature changes...

image.png

It is great at the moment and I love this particular stretch of trees, and as we are not yet in summer they are not overgrown with leaves! Come the summer then they will be much more bushy!

image.png

The dogs love to run in here as it is a wee bit overgrown. Do you see something @deraaa?

image.png

It looks like a pair of little bottoms that you are so obsessed with!

image.png

Talk about being in the dog house, I have to run and catch up with Mrs T to avoid getting my bollocking!

image.png

I did catch up by the orchard, I am hoping these trees make it, we actually have some deer here, and them coupled with these hooligans have a detrimental affect on the health of saplings!

image.png

Now it's time to hit the trail, we took the lower trail today!

image.png

There he is, the wizard on the wizard's walk. His name is Sir Michael Scott and he is closing in on a thousand years old!

This hopefully was the last day before we get summer!

image.png

This is the inspection tree, he always bends over to inspect your paperwork.

We did have a wee chat and he said the Horse Chestnuts were blooming beautiful!

We shall see them next time!

This is my submission on #sublimesunday which was an extension to my #wednesdaywalk

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

What a wonderful place for a walk, or rambling around all day! Are there any picnic tables, maybe even places where one can have a BBQ?

There are numerous benches dotted around the park and even some tables near the boating pond, but no permanent bbq equipment. There is also a rose garden where we often nip up and take our lunch.

Sounds nice! My tiny BBQ only weighs about a pound, so I can bring and use it anywhere it's permitted, with plenty of room left to carry all the ingredients I could wish for. It's light enough that I would probably include it in my luggage if I ever went on a vacation! I guess I'd leave the mini cast iron wok and frying pans at home though, but they're useful when BBQing within a walking distance 🔥😋

Weighs a pound, darn that is tiny and lightweight!
hehe you have a wok and frying pans for it...
hmm and when is your next bbq?

A frying pan is useful for heating up bread without risking burning them, or frying things that would just fall through the BBQ grid! And the wok is great for boiling up some water for tea since I don't trust aluminum kettles on a coal fire, or of course for woking stuff - like fried rice or noodles mixed with the leftover meats and vegs! - or making a soup. Or when you want to eat hot pot outdoors!

Next BBQ... depends on the weather and hubby's work. Soon I hope! We meant to have one on the Saturday a week ago, but it got cancelled. He seldom knows more than 3-4 days in advance, sometimes even not until the same afternoon, if he's working or not. On one occassion last summer we'd planned for a week, sliced and marinated meats for a couple of days, baked pita bread, packed it all in boxes so we'd just have to grab them and the BBQ and go out. Then his boss called: you have to work today and for three days, NN is home with a sick child! :( Of course, I cooked everything at home instead and put in his lunchboxes, but the flavour isn't the same. And the fun...

I must admit I used to use foil to wrap things like mushrooms so they would not fall through the gaps, but yeah a frying pan would work wonders!

Oh no, marinating your meats and not putting on them on the barbie is a pain, you go to the trouble and then you don't get to do it!

Spontaneous is great, but that is not always the best flavoured food. Oh yes I remember you cutting up pizza for the lunch box of hubby!

Oh well, I am sure the next time will be totally awesome!

Pretty good to have see the park still functioning over 100 years, i didnt see anyone inside thou, but it looks beautiful is someone maintaining it?

Yes it is run by the council so they outsource the maintenance, which now means chopping things down :(

Ohh which means they are trying to resduce the outsource of resources and make do with what they have.?

They are trying to reduce it more and more! It's not good!

What a breathtaking park and you had great shots Tito Ed. I so love the Lion Statue. If I am
there surely, I would take a selfie beside it in pink get up. heheh. Best regards and have a great timw!

Yeah I love it and it is only 5 minutes walk from home. People here do not realise how lucky they are!

surely, I would take a selfie beside it in pink get up.

haha and I would love to take that selfie for you CJ:)
Salamat of sweet dreams!

Hi, Ed! That first set of blooms is a Rhodie! Rhododendron. is one of my favorites! They always have abundant blooms and liven up the area. Gorgeous ones, I am a huge fan of the path sandwiched in between trees like that, makes for a lovely walk among nature and such.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! @alwaysaflower

Hiya Denise I thought it was Rhodie, but I often say they are. I should take pics of all the bushes and see if they really Rhodies!

They really do have abundant blooms and just make it gorgeous!

The paths with tress overhanging are wonderful to walk on.

The weekend was good and a Spring Bank holiday. I hope you have been having one too:)

It was Memorial Day today, so it was a slightly overcast, mostly sunny day! Yes, Scotland in bloom is amazing!

Ah well if mostly sunny then that is a winner for me Denise. Yeah the long slow winter seems to have delayed nature but she is getting all caught up now :)

It is a very beautiful park, I love the abundance of vegetation, it is the perfect place to relax and be in contact with nature.

Cracking place of a walk - pity about those vandals - they've no f-ing brains between the lot of them.
That pink flower is a type of Rhododendron I think ( and yes I had to use auto-correct for the spelling !). There are so many different types, but that one certainly has the main characteristics.

Oh I jogged and caught up, I am angel so don't really get bollockings 🤣

woww... what a stunning view of the forest you show. i was really interested to see some of the pictures you posted.

such a beautiful park I could easy find myself dillydallying there,
I had to slip that in Dillydallying is fun and such a cool word and one I havent used in years but managed to slip it in twice in this comment lOL

such a shame about the vandals. I just do not understand the mentality of people who do that
