There are numerous benches dotted around the park and even some tables near the boating pond, but no permanent bbq equipment. There is also a rose garden where we often nip up and take our lunch.

Sounds nice! My tiny BBQ only weighs about a pound, so I can bring and use it anywhere it's permitted, with plenty of room left to carry all the ingredients I could wish for. It's light enough that I would probably include it in my luggage if I ever went on a vacation! I guess I'd leave the mini cast iron wok and frying pans at home though, but they're useful when BBQing within a walking distance 🔥😋

Weighs a pound, darn that is tiny and lightweight!
hehe you have a wok and frying pans for it...
hmm and when is your next bbq?

A frying pan is useful for heating up bread without risking burning them, or frying things that would just fall through the BBQ grid! And the wok is great for boiling up some water for tea since I don't trust aluminum kettles on a coal fire, or of course for woking stuff - like fried rice or noodles mixed with the leftover meats and vegs! - or making a soup. Or when you want to eat hot pot outdoors!

Next BBQ... depends on the weather and hubby's work. Soon I hope! We meant to have one on the Saturday a week ago, but it got cancelled. He seldom knows more than 3-4 days in advance, sometimes even not until the same afternoon, if he's working or not. On one occassion last summer we'd planned for a week, sliced and marinated meats for a couple of days, baked pita bread, packed it all in boxes so we'd just have to grab them and the BBQ and go out. Then his boss called: you have to work today and for three days, NN is home with a sick child! :( Of course, I cooked everything at home instead and put in his lunchboxes, but the flavour isn't the same. And the fun...

I must admit I used to use foil to wrap things like mushrooms so they would not fall through the gaps, but yeah a frying pan would work wonders!

Oh no, marinating your meats and not putting on them on the barbie is a pain, you go to the trouble and then you don't get to do it!

Spontaneous is great, but that is not always the best flavoured food. Oh yes I remember you cutting up pizza for the lunch box of hubby!

Oh well, I am sure the next time will be totally awesome!
