I know, it’s such a mouthful title but campfire cooking in another world is a wholesome isekai that you should be checking out this year. From what I read, the manga is also still on-going and it’s mostly a light-novel. I found this anime was because I saw this on my feed about a week ago. I am mostly skeptical especially when it comes to Isekai as I watched numerous of them but they had similar arcs, stories, and plots. Many Isekais I watched were boring and as overrated as it is for isekai, I have to say differently about this one. It’s an anime that you can watch while winding down and pretty relaxing despite the fight with the monsters. As afterall, you’d be watching a cooking show but isekai. And that’s the anime in a nutshell.

However, to give you more context, Tondemo Sukiru de Isekai Hōrō Meshi revolves the story of a Japanese high-schooler named Tsuyoshi Mukouda who was summoned into another world called Reiseger Kingdom. As the title suggests, he comes into another world with a skill that is pretty absurd compared to others in the anime with their usual swordsmanship and battle skill. Now, the question is, Can Mukouda skill actually be useful?

In the last part of first episode, on the way to another kingdom, Mukouda was followed by Fenrir, a mythical creature that are feared by people. It appears that Fenrir was smelling the food that was cooked by Mukouda. Then, after eating the food made by Mukouda, Fenrir decided to make a contract with Mukouda as long as Fenrir gets to eat delicious food made by him.

So far, there’s only three episodes that basically is the introduction phase where Mukouda is simply learning about this new world and how it works. I have to say that it's pretty wholesome so far and I hope it stays that way. I have not read the manga but won't because I do not want to spoil myself even more.

If you are tired of anime that’s all about fighting, too political, or too gore, this one gives a fresh spin to isekai and is worth following.

What I found most entertaining is certainly his skill where Mukouda can purchase items from online shopping and pay with the other world currency and have it delivered. From the episodes I watched, apparently the use of many flavor enhancers have helped him create delicious cooking that does not exist in that other world. It was strange to see but also hilarious. Anyhow, though it’s the cooking aspect that I was drawn to, the story and how the adventure works are pretty fun to follow.

For example In the second episode, Mukouda applied for guilds and to up his rank, he had to do a certain mission and his mission was simply collecting flowers 😀.

I am certainly looking forward to more of his adventure mission and same with his merchant’s guild. Unlike most anime that I watch either from VIU or anime sites, this one is available on youtube from Muse Asia Channel which makes it even more fun to watch as I get to watch it without VPN and has a better resolution.

At the moment, I am also watching vinland season 2 and some other anime that I’ll be reviewing when I can. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve reviewed an anime for a long time but I should be starting again. And don’t forget checking out this one too!
