RE: It is official... I have resigned from my shitty career of 9+ years

Congratulations on your escape !

When I quite my full-time job to set up my e-commerce business (long before I got into crypto), they gave me a really hard time about it, asking me to extend my leave and generally making life miserable. They knew that if I was setting up on my own, I wouldn't care about needing references for a new employer or anything, which just made them more bitter.

Then, on the final day, my manager admitted that he wished he had the courage to walk away like I'd just done. It was a good feeling, and setting up on my own, for all the hassles and stresses involved is a move I will never regret.

The company I worked for over 20 years felt it was better going forward without me. That was my burst into freedom.

I hung around long enough to get to the point where I didnt need them. Personally, I think most feel like your old manager. If the stats are correct about 80% of the workforce hates their job.

I can confirm the 80% of the staff hating their jobs. When I left my company, even though I liked my job - most of my colleagues hated their jobs and they still did not dare to leave. 😅

I told my employer as little as possible about why I felt comfortable leaving finally. I’m sure word will eventually get around about what I’m doing now, but I don’t care what they do over at USPS in the least bit.

My manager told me the same thing about wishing she could leave. She said only 5 more years until I retire. I felt terrible for her, but it was her choice to continue to suffer and not find an alternative path like we have.
