It is official... I have resigned from my shitty career of 9+ years

My resignation is complete 🙅‍♂️✉️🗽

What a long and annoying process it has been. I can, at last, say that I am 100% removed from my former employment as a clerk with USPS. That job title sure doesn't sound pretty and I am happy as can be to finally have that position removed from bio. Just in case you haven't kept up with everything that happened to me since Thanksgiving, let's recap briefly.

It all started with my job sending me home because I refused to wear a mask. This just happened to be right when HIVE was pumping over $3 and at a new ATH. Let's just say my confidence was through the roof and I was finished being bossed around by idiots. More on how all of that went here https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@daltono/my-job-just-sent-me-home-from-work-because-i-refused-to-wear-a-mask.

I then had to deal with getting letter after letter in the mail basically telling me that I was a POS and a danger to my fellow employees. After everything I had done for them for nearly 10 years, they were quick to tell me that I was now inadequate. You can read about that here https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@daltono/an-update-on-the-status-of-my-8-year-career-with-usps.

Then they decided to take away my pay. They told me I couldn't come to work, but I also wouldn't be able to use the hundreds of hours of leave that I had earned over the years as a career employee. I guess they thought that I would bleed through my funds and come running back for a paycheck to survive. You can read this post to find out that I was doing just fine without their wages https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@daltono/i-lost-my-55k-yearly-salary-from-usps.

The last update I gave was when I was told that I was welcome back to work finally. They didn't really make it clear if the mask mandate had been dropped or not, but by this time, I was past the point of ever returning. It was laughable for them to believe I would ever want to work under their wing of incompetence again, as you can read here https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@daltono/my-job-seriously-thinks-that-i-want-to-come-back-to-work.

I spent the entire month of December burning through all of my sick leave since it wouldn't have been paid out once I finally quit. Sadly it seemed as though they didn't have the balls to actually fire me, so I was left with no other option but to just resign. As of January 10, 2022, I am no longer employed with USPS. It is 100% official. I just received my last paycheck and am now all on my own and loving it.

Luckily it was a very easy process. All I had to do was fill out this form and turn it in.

I felt so damn good walking out of that hell hole. They were in huge trouble that last day I was in there. It was Monday, the busiest day of the week. Normally a time when I'd have been working with one other person. A regular day through the week we were supposed to have 7 or 8 employees. Monday was always terrible and I felt like death after them.

It seems as though I am not the only person who no longer wished to work there. Most of my co-workers had been absent more than usual through the busiest month of December. This doesn't surprise me at all. I really hope that I was able to inspire at least one of them to quit as I did. Sadly, I think that they all are probably for-lifers.

I've now had about 2 months of being full-time with Hive. It has been such an amazing period of time. I am now able to wake up every single day and be genuinely excited to get started on creating content. My writing is getting better daily. I finally have the time to play video games and record lots of awesome videos for you all to watch. I am able to hit the gym and eat my meals whenever I feel like it, rather than adhering to a strict schedule thanks to a 40+ hour workweek. Everything is just so much better.

I am still very busy and often feel like I work harder than I did when I had that job with USPS, but this stuff is so much more rewarding and makes me happy to know that I am doing something that I believe in. I am so excited to see where the future leads for me. I am confident that switching up my career path will go down as one of my greatest decisions ever, but it will take time to fully realize if I made a wise decision or not. For now, things sure do seem awesome and I am beyond grateful for the opportunities that Hive and crypto, in general, have given me.

Nice one, it Is never worth working to have miserable, fuck masks and these mandates and thank for stand up and saying NO

Amazing how these companies are starting to change their tune as people are telling them to fuck off.

A lot of the employment problem is tied to onerous rules set down by these companies (not just masks and such). So this was just another layer in the misery that people are saying enough.

Right, I am seeing this here in Canada to, Bosses don't hold the upper hand any more

Working there always sucked, but it became even more miserable whenever they wanted me to abide by new rules like a bitch. Not me!

Yeah, My wife for fired over the BS mandates, and she found a job at home and is so much more happy

I’m sure at first you and your wife were a bit worried, but it is great to know that things ended up working out for the better.

plus one.

It seems to me that you are happy about leaving.
Sometimes when one has the same job for 10 years,
it feels right to have a change in careers.
Traditionally, one retires from such a job.
But, you don't strike me as a traditional guy.
If you are happy about leaving, well and good.
I am very happy for you!

It seems to me that you are happy about leaving.

That might be an understatement.

I feel like you’re correct nailing me as a non-traditionalist. I’m proud to say that I agree.

Congratulations on your escape !

When I quite my full-time job to set up my e-commerce business (long before I got into crypto), they gave me a really hard time about it, asking me to extend my leave and generally making life miserable. They knew that if I was setting up on my own, I wouldn't care about needing references for a new employer or anything, which just made them more bitter.

Then, on the final day, my manager admitted that he wished he had the courage to walk away like I'd just done. It was a good feeling, and setting up on my own, for all the hassles and stresses involved is a move I will never regret.

The company I worked for over 20 years felt it was better going forward without me. That was my burst into freedom.

I hung around long enough to get to the point where I didnt need them. Personally, I think most feel like your old manager. If the stats are correct about 80% of the workforce hates their job.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I can confirm the 80% of the staff hating their jobs. When I left my company, even though I liked my job - most of my colleagues hated their jobs and they still did not dare to leave. 😅

I told my employer as little as possible about why I felt comfortable leaving finally. I’m sure word will eventually get around about what I’m doing now, but I don’t care what they do over at USPS in the least bit.

My manager told me the same thing about wishing she could leave. She said only 5 more years until I retire. I felt terrible for her, but it was her choice to continue to suffer and not find an alternative path like we have.

Congratulations.

It is amazing the shift that takes place. Hopefully we can introduce millions more to the same experience you had.

Cryptocurrency has the ability to change lives and we are doing it here on Hive. You are a living example of that. There might be times when it is tough but, as you already know, the level of excitement when you wake up as compared to the drudgery of going into a shit job is exhilarating.

No wonder people are so depressed and on meds. Corporate America is a total cesspool.

Even after 4+ years of works, this still has risks. I don’t think there ever would be a point where quitting was 100% safe. I waited as long as I could & it finally had happened. Wouldn’t even be an option without Hive and crypto.

Not being depressed, having zero medications to take, and genuinely loving my life are some of the best feelings. I figured transitioning into a life with more freedom like this may take me some time… but I swear it feels like all that happened was the flip of a switch. Now here I am living the dream I had in my mind for years and it’s just so wild that it is finally real.

No there is never 100% safety or security in anything. Have to take the plunge sooner or later, regardless of what the circumstances look like.

I am happy for you. You will find that your demeanor and outlook on life changes completely. Even if you had a positive disposition before, a senseless job that is detested weights on us. So it has an impact.

That gorilla is not off your back.

Well, it sounded like it was coming and you knew it was a matter of time. If i read clearly, you said you are happy about leaving. I feel that's all that matters, I take my happiness seriously, I do only things that makes me happy.

I finally have the time to play video games and record lots of awesome videos for you all to watch

Do you stream? It would be nice to watch you kick Ass

happiness is the true vaccine against all kinds of longterm sicknesses, even against cancer! When you are happy and motivated to fight, your body and your immune system is much stronger, than when you are depressed or unhappy. 😊

Nothing but pure joy about finally being free from that place. Life is superior in every way now.

& honestly no I don’t stream. I’m probably missing out by not doing it, but I much prefer just making videos the way I’ve been doing it, instead of streaming.

This is such a great post. For two reasons, first, you improved your life by finding a path that brings joy instead of trudgery. And second, and more importantly for me, you are showing that Hive is a career choice that is sustainable. Keep doing what you are doing and keep inspiring me and others! Congrats!

We are all here to give inspiration and lead.

@daltono shows the potential of cryptocurrency and Hive. We are changing lives here and this post shows it.

I never could have imagined an opportunity like Hive to save me from working all of these jobs that take more than they provide to me. Sitting at home and working, I often wonder how others are still keeping this machine going. Eventually everyone is going to realize that they don’t have to go to a job to survive.. luckily automation should keep our society from failing, I hope.

That sounds quite interesting....freedom finally....it may appear to be a huge problem with no job up front and Hive getting down tooo...but everything will be fine...BTW will you look out for another one ? Or enjoy the quality time with Hive

Even with HIVE under $1 I can survive fine for a few years & I know HIVE is not going to be staying under $1 for very long. I do not have plans of getting another job. I enjoy creating stuff to post on Hive far more than anything else.

That is great....it's good to screw such job and spend time that make us happy.

lmao 🤣

From my opinion, you are absolutely right. Congratulations for that.
❤️ May God gives you all your heart desires 🙏💞

So thankful for the support from you and the rest of this awesome community.

wow that takes a lot of courage, wish you the best on your journey!

Thanks so much. Think about something long enough and it’s going to happen.

Congratulations man! That's so good, must feel very rewarding and you will probably work more now but it won't feel like it if it's something you love doing!

That's so good, must feel very rewarding and you will probably work more now...

Isn't that the truth. I put in more hours on Hive than I ever did at my job. Yet I love doing it. So much fun and not a chore at all.

Of course, it is all my choice.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

8 hours on here is a joy, while 8 hours at a job is literal torture. Easy choice to make for me.

That is the truth. The 8 hours on Hive can pass very quickly.

In a job, each minute is like a drip of water on your forehead.

When I've had time off from my current job with annual leave, I found I work late in to the night on music projects, blogging and whatnot without it feeling like work at all.

As long as you feel you've made the right choice and are happy, you're winning really!

When you love what you do, it's not a job but a pleasure :)

For sure! And that's the best way to spend our limited time here!

confirmed

Thanks so much dude. Now I just have to stay focused on the new mission and not let anything stop me from succeeding. Sounds easy enough… right? 😅

Haha, in theory yes but it seems like you have the motivation to keep that focus going so I am sure you have it covered 😃

Such a great thing to happen to u, I mean to happen for u.. due to u being such a cool guy who already had have going and could just focus on that, instead of that lame job. It seemed like u were just another worker ant for them and they didn't really value u at all. :(

well, NOT here on hive. I thank u for being here and sharing ur work with all of us hivers. :)

I felt smaller than an ant at my old job. Now I feel like what I do actually matters, even if our audience is still relatively small here.

That's awesome man I didn't know you worked for USPS. We run a small business on the side and we definitely rely on the post office! It's sheer insanity what they are doing to workers across the country and the world. I put my foot down as well and wasn't backed up at all so I'm glad to see that more are doing it and happier on the other side. There are things that are most definitely challenging and scary about it all but in the end, it's something we have to explore ourselves!

I think what's the most ludicrous about all of the news surrounding resignations is the corporate mouthpieces are always "baffled" by why everyone is resigning! Don't fuck with my personal life and you can enjoy my work, put yourself where you don't belong and see ya later!

I knew so many people that came to the post office daily and rely heavily on the affordable services. I hope they can continue to do this type of shipping for years to come, I just don’t want to help do it any longer 😅

A lot of the higher ups are probably shocked that people below them are starting to figure out ways to become sustainable on their own. For so many years we were just expected to work and shut up until we die or retire. The world is evolving quickly.

Uff what a long way,
thank's for sharing... 😲

I overstayed my welcome at that damn place. Good to be out finally.

congrats man! I left my company like a year ago, I did not regret it either. :D colleagues asked me to come back, too. But honestly with the pandemic bs going on right now, I am glad that I don't have to fight the mask, vaccine or whatever bullshit they try to force on you. Especially as an asian person times are super hard now. And the government has weird ideas what are good measures without any scientific proof. NEVER TRUST ANY GOVERNMENT! thats why I left China, now I'm stuck in Germany 🤣

Moving on from things that once held us back feels so good. Being forced to do anything sucks big time. Where do you want to go instead of Germany?

i dont know yet lmao :D

I know how that feels. Thinking about moving is a whole lot more enjoyable than actually having to do the moving.
