Hmmmm... have people started asking you about Bitcoin again? Is it now cool to be owning and talking about cryptocurrencies as well? It does appear that the tourists are returning back to teh cryptocurrency thing...
... my barometer is generally the people who are attracted to the latest fads, the ones who flit from whatever is the flavour of the day... who buy up lots of a particular kit (often quite expensive...) and immerse themselves in the YouTube and TikTok information dives, and start reading about this and that... generally becoming one minute experts about a particular topic or craze.
They have been quite quiet for the last couple of years... and that has been sort of mixed blessing, I don't need to hear the slightly weirdly informed takes on Bitcoin and all the rest of the stuff... and how Doge or Shiba is going to revolutionise the financial system... and most importantly, I don't have to listen about how much they have profited (in paper terms...)... and how they timed this and that...
Actually, I do find it quite painful that these people are primarily interested about the number go up aspect of cryptocurrencies... and whilst that is sort of pragmatically fun... the idealist in me is always bursting at the seams to extol the benefits (and downsides...) of decentralised and resilient networks... most of which has to do with the ancient (or faux) digital plumbing that our entire society is teetering upon.
But no one wants to hear a nerd talk about those things... and number go up is much more interesting and easier to understand for most people that the sort of ethereal hope that all of this stuff could make our society better (and worse...) in different ways.
So, I guess it is only a matter of time before the celebrities are starting to pile in... and when the cool kids are all in the room, it is time for the nerds to leave!

You can inject the seeds of those ideas while they're enthused about it. In my limited experience it makes people think if nothing else, and best case scenario they start developing thoughts alongf your lines but think they did it all by themselves which seems the best way to get things to stick.
I guess it is a good way to start the little ideas of future technology going... but it just always seems to meet with disinterest with some of them, and the number go up is always what it comes back to.
I just bail out of conversations where it's all number go up, I find them incredibly boring x_x
