How Did We Do in 2024?
I've updated the Savers Charts for the final results of the year:
- 59% Savers participated regularly in the Club.
- 44% Savers reached one or more Savings goals.
- 51% Savers who participated regularly achieved one or more goals.

Proposal: Prize Draw for 500 HIVE?
Yesterday, @ssuk sent me this article from the Daily Record:
Monzo Bank, the seventh largest in the UK, has created an automated system for the 365 Penny A Day Challenge for its customers.
- Monzo also revealed that it would be offering one customer who completes the full 365 days a chance to win a £10,000 prize.
Monzo has already helped its customers "put away a total of £229 million in 2024" with its automated round up savings plan. 🤑
There isn't the facility on Hive for automating savings in Saver's wallets, you'll still have to do that manually 😂. But we do have a proposal for a prize draw for 500 HIVE for accounts that save 600 HP during 2025. Here's the idea:
Everyone who wants to be eligible for the 500 HIVE draw must:
- leave a comment on the 2025 Launch post (this will be published on Saturday 4 January 2025) with their primary and secondary (if they have one) savings goals for the year AND a snapshot of their HP author and curation rewards by 31 January 2025.
- actively participate in the Club by commenting at least 40 weeks of the Savings year (80% participation).
- save at least 600 HP author and curation rewards by 18:00 UTC on Friday 19 December 2025. Final results will be published Saturday 20 December, along with the results of the Saver of the Year Awards).
Some questions, Savers:
- What do you think of the proposal?
- Should we target small accounts e.g. saying that only accounts with less than 6,000 HP at 20 December 2025 are eligible for the prize draw?
- Could the prize draw be 500 HP, powered up on HPUD on 1 January (I think we can do that)?

Things are off to a new start of a new year and I must say I look so forward to another year with the club. I like to say 'CONGRATS'!! to All those who completed there goals and wish the best to those who will tackle another year.

In spite of all the things that went wrong for me last year, I did manage to hang in there and make some accomplishments of my own. I fell a little short of my primary goal of 554 LGN, finishing the year with just 494 LGN. However, my secondary goal made big leaps not only making my goal of 1119 LOH but greatly exceeding it by 477 LOH for a finishing year of 1596 LOH.

I like the proposal but just to understand, the 600 saved HP must come from author & curation rewards only??

Yes, only author and curation rewards will count towards the prize draw. You can still grow your account other ways through delegations, trading other tokens etc in addition to the 600HP rewards (plus there will be inflation). So you may end up with much more than 600HP growth 🙂

The proposal is really good initiative and will be great if we target smaller accounts to help them build up. Otherwise, another consideration could be to split half, half for new and the other half for people whom really push hard and achieved a big growth throughout the year. It is. a great idea to incentivize those who make it, but I don't like the lottery. Better is to split the prize equally amounts the ones who are making it past the threshold.

We had a Christmas box this year for people who participated regularly in the club and there are also the Saver of the Year Awards. We were looking for something that was a bit more exciting and would encourage more people to keep going through the year.

600 HP is too small for most of us here. 1000 HP should be the bottom that reasonable one. and I think the reward is better in HP than liquid HIVE, we are expecting people who have long term plan on Hive to win right?

The proposal is great and yes, it would be cool to have some criteria for it (i.e. giving more chances to smaller accounts). I'm also for the idea of the rewards to be powered up or half (250 powered up) and half as liquid HIVE.😊

I like how the small accounts are thought in the prize draw because most of the Hive is more focused on big accounts making movements so focusing on small account makes sense. I like the proposal. If god willing I may hit the 6K this year, when I dont know :)

I agree with the jackpot going to small accounts, but maybe lower the amount and leave a small prize for accounts over the HP limit. We older kids need motivation too 😆
We have lots of giveaways through the year, the Savers of the Year Award - the first prize this year was 25 EDSMMs plus a Christmas Box, which everyone benefits from 😍

I would say if possible, we can split the prize into 2 parts, One more lower accounts and One for the current proposed target, hope that is a feasible One.
I think this is even better idea as it will not only help the account grow, but would enable the account to grow every day with the curation rewards with that additional HP.
Looking forward to the First Saturday Savers Club post this weekend and there are many plans to set the goals and I am sure all of the club members will be itching to do that :)

The prize is really for those newcomers, people who come here with nothing and are trying to understand Hive and build their network. Do you think 6,000HP is too high? We could set it at 1,000HP or 2,000HP but I don't want to discourage anyone who might like to invest in Hive as well as learning how to earn. What do you think?

Yes indeed! The weather was pretty insane! The blinds on the windows (are they called that when they are on the outside?) were making incredible noises, rattling all the time. Branches flying around over the streets… Yikes! But we got through it, without anything broken or so…

Hello my dear, I am one of those who could not complete my goals, I was very close to complete the goal of 600 HP, however, I could not get it, so the last few days I have been thinking and I will try again, plus I will add some more goals.
Regarding the raffle for savers I think it is an excellent idea, an additional motivation to become real savers, so we are waiting for that launch.

I agree that accounts with less than 6k HP would be given the priority. However, when only few participate, we can accommodate those who have bigger HP. With this option, we might help encourage smaller accounts to become more active and engaging in the blockchain. I hope this suggestion helps. Thanks a lot.

Not everyone will get their snapshot on 1 January 2025, especially as the launch post will not be published until 4 January 😂. It often takes several weeks for everyone to find out about the Club and sort out their goals so asking for them to add a snapshot by 31 January seemed a sensible deadline. I like the idea of the prize draw. As a thought, maybe it should be for accounts with less than 6K on 1st January 2025, that way it doesn't act as a constraint on someone who does really well during the course of the year only then to damp down their activity towards the end to stay under the threshold. Perhaps powering up 500HP at the start of the year could create a fixed draw prize of the 500, with any growth being used for a "consolation prize" for a second place draw.
Also, maybe we could find an account we could delegate to, with growth from the delegation funding a smaller prize draw for those of us lucky enough to have over 6K 😁

That's a good idea. I'm thinking less than 6,000HP by 31 January, the snapshot could be anytime that month. It's just a confirmed starting place, rather than for the whole savings period.

I have also been thinking about the ideas you posted under the Hive Woodpeckers post - maybe we could have a charity account that has the same kind of delegation arrangements - 80% to delegators 20% to build their network account and periodically it makes awards to good causes. This could be either a cause of the year (like Hive Woodpeckers) or as chosen by the community through the year.
Also, attached to the same account, we could have something like @adollaraday, an account where accounts could donate dollars, also used for good causes as decided by the community. Accounts could also run fundraisers with the charity account as the beneficiary. What do you think?
Yep, that's a good picture of it. I think the delegators should get at least a little something back. Maybe do the 20/80 split the other way around so 80% goes into the pot. Likewise for the charity account. It's really just as mental trick - with a delegation, it's not like you're giving away "real" cash, and having a small return can help to offset inflation.
I guess we could start with a small return to delegators and see how quickly the fund grows, and adjust if we want to.

Good question ! I'd be interested to see what others earned through last year, to make sure it's an achievable figure.
I did 1822.12 of actual earnings last year (post, comment, curation and delegation rewards, but excluding HIVE powered up from fiat), with an account that started the year at 7528HP. But then I'm not the most prolific poster by far, and quite a few of my posts tend to be to low audience communities. So I reckon 2400 should be achievable for someone who posts more often than I do (or to communities with more active members), although I think 3500 might only be possible for much larger accounts.
I took a straw poll of some of the accounts about the same size as yours. Based on author and curation earnings over the past 30 days, they were all coming in at about 2,000HP over a year. I noticed that most of are not powering up 100% HP (opting for 50% HBD/HP) and have fairly low curation returns - 5% compared with the more usual 8%-9% - which could be improved.
On the other hand, we have a fair few much bigger accounts where 2,400HP would be an easy threshold and accomplished in about half the year.
I'm inclined to go with 3,000HP as I think the smaller accounts have room to improve with fairly simple options (if they choose them) plus it might provide the push to keep posting?
3,000HP would be 5x what we're asking of newcomers, feels about right, given Dolphin is about 10x the starting position. (I'm not sure where 3,500HP came from, wrong maths)!

That sounds good to me ! I tend to curate lots and post less, which gives me a useful challenge to improve my posting (or to post smarter to improve the results I get from it !)
I never get the people who don't curate to the absolute maximum of their ability. It's like leaving money on the table, but more importantly they're missing out on helping others earnings and on the whole "social" part of social media.
