It's okay.
No one says it's easy, for you or your father, anyone.
Patients are often afraid and all I could do is either hold his hand for a few minutes or give a hug and say "I'll see you later."
Damn Covid now really changed/forbids that.
I have witnessed a lot of families grieving with/over their parent.
And I have at times taken harsh criticism by family members but I understand it's part of the process. 🙏

Yeah, the horror stories. There are things class theory can't teach until you see it in a real setting.
My Provincial health has a Palliative Home Care program but I know it's likely limited due to Covid, ask if there is a similar program available. Would Probably bave to meet certain criteria but no harm asking should your father become stable.
Like your Dad or anyone else, I'd prefer to spend my last days at home.
