Bitcoin CRASHED and You Are Poor, For Now - Hype and Utility Matters

The picture depicts my Bittrex trading account. A place where I leave some cryptocurrencies that I might want to trade or have easy access to. My assets are sorted by biggest gains. (lol, find that ironic?)

(don't give me a lecture on leaving funds on exchanges, I know.. these are easy access funds, not the bulk of holdings)

It's a pretty fair representation of my entire portfolio. It's red and down right now, but for weeks it has been mostly up and the value is about the same as where I was sitting 2 weeks ago. What it represents now is an opportunity to consider my bags and decide what I want to be in when this corrects and begins to go up again. Something that could happen as early as this afternoon, or it could take a couple of weeks.

One of my favorite things about Hive/Leo is the community rather than the investment, because when I was a noob in 2016 I hung out with people who had been in crypto longer than me. They remained calm and even laughed when projects or the entire market went up and down.

image.png

The volatility of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is often a stated benefit for traders and others who play the markets. For me it is often a check of which projects are getting attention and where they are headed.

How I judge them

Short-term gains are often made via hype. I think Doge is the perfect example of this. DOGE is rising not on utility, but because people are saying their name and promoting the idea it will continue to rise. I don't know how far it can go, but it will continue to have high volume and likely some price gains as long as people are focused on it.

Long-term growth is based on solving a problem. Many hate BNB and the Binance Smart Chain, but it solves a problem, so people use it. Due to it solving a problem people talk about it.

image.png

Most projects have a weakness and all of crypto is a compromise. Two things will always remain true. If you solve a problem people will use your product even if they don't like the company/organization. If you create a lot of hype, people will think about your product whether it is good or bad.

That's why all news is ultimately good news.

That being said, I am not buying DOGE and I absolutely do use BNB, while it gets criticized I am unwilling to pay ETH fees right now, but the good news is that ETH seems to be working on trying to resolve their scalability issues.

How are you handling the DIP and are you making any changes?

Sort:

I'll just leave this here:).

It's on red days that you can tell if you have some decent diversity in the portfolio (not that I own a lot of different cryptos, but still a good chance to look around)

Oh, and my yolo-position in the #proofofbrain Tribe is also up a lot 😁

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Nice, I'm already about 50% back from the crash.

We haven't come yet to the point where fundamentals really matter in this market and this was imo just a regular FUD for smart money to buy more at discounts.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Oh. There was a dip? I didn't even notice. Forgot to look.

were you sleeping it was all over the internet

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I just don't pay attention.

nice you just escape a lot of headaches

Absolutely. Too much bad news in this world. I made it all go away.

lol you are a funny dude liked this conversation

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

This is the first time I ever made a talking cat, laugh.

image.png

There was a dip and some found it to taste... SALTY

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I agree it was too salty I was sleeping when it happened

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Why must they always ruin the dip...

it helps when you never been rich :D

I am unwilling to pay ETH fees

I am unable to pay ETH fees and that helps my decision to not do anything on ETH. I don't see how anyone who is not an ETH whale does anything on it this days. I do understand that money is there, but... i can't justify spending 2 days of average wage on a transaction (that can also just fail)

I am mentioning this a lot, but it is a curse to start your crypto journey on Hive with no transaction fees.

Well I tried some ETH DEFI projects and it was painful.. So, I'm happy to be on CUB.

I hear you regarding getting spoiled with low/no fees.

What about the layer-2?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I need more info, what do you mean?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Sorry, I meant the Ethereum's scaling solutions - they are known as layer-2s.
They are also very cheap to use if you somehow manage to get your assets over here.

That being said, I am not buying DOGE and I absolutely do use BNB, while it gets criticized I am unwilling to pay ETH fees right now,

Lol, this is like I've said it. I do the same :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think BNB and OKT coin is worth spending some money on because of the low trans-fee no?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It depends on what's your strategy.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

People use what works. I also explains Amazon and Walmart.

You have to try hard not to use things that work well.

It all depends on your level of conviction

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

As always, it's a buying opportunity. I agree with you on the reevaluating which ones I want to have more, less, or get out of completely during these times. Even though everything goes down, you can kind of get a feel for which are the strongest by how far they drop and how quickly they recover. Seems the top tokens by market cap are doing just fine in that regard. FUD ftw! :-)

I don't call them dips. I call them sales!

The only people worried about corrections in the market like this are the people who're looking simply for short term gains.

Those of us playing the long game look at dips as opportunities to lower the average cost of the tokens in our wallets 😁

You're absolutely right about hype, though. If there are lots of people talking about something, others will get in even if that something turns out to be nothing at all.

Great advice to those who might be sweating right now with the markets so red. I'll be including this post in my latest edition of 'Rogue Curator' 🚀

A Lovely formatt4ed comment. Yeah, I'm in for the long haul, but I also like to experience some gratification once in a while.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I format everything. 😅

Been on this platform too long not to. Coming up on my 4th cakeday in a couple weeks.

I've been here for 5 and I barely format anything.

:)

whoot good job on hanging in there.

I wanted to buy DOGE last night but I told myself I'll sleep on it. This morning, I said No! That was my first thought while waking up. :)
No to ETH fees, no to DOGE either...I admit it: I dislike and don't trust #melonflasc also

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

17 holdings and none dropped more than 15%...you are playing it safe!

Dash and Status were looking a bit wild for a moment there - no panic though...

image.png

My larger risks are in some eth bullshit. lol.

Bittrex isn't exactly the happening place anymore.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

we are just surfing waves of manipulation - i still think btc is the biggest one of the lot, just s more gradual plan

I can't disagree. All markets appear to be manipulated, so I play in the ones where I think I can win.

:)

me too

I’ve been praying for this dip for a while now these all time highs were killing my poor Daily cost averaging buys! Picking up Sats 12% cheaper is always good for me!

You can never have too much Bitcoin

Haha, I love the attitude.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I had been taking a small bit of profit at the 60 range so I just bought the dip, I have some more Bitcoin now so all is well

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

There is a DIP? No wonder I could get more good tokens for less fiat money.

Like it is said, buy the dips!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Nods, I agree.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Sticking with my crypto choices and hodling! Personally, BNB is a great cryptocurrency. Although it is centralised, its service is superior to many others and it is much more friendly to use than other cryptocurrencies, especially ETH.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I am with you. I doubt I will ever buy Doge. No use case, no reason for me to hold it. The BNB thing just drives me nuts because I could have owned so much of it at one point. I think a lot of us are kicking ourselves over that one. I use it for CUB and I am having fun with that.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Cub is like my favorite crypto right now.

Mine is probably WAX, but CUB is right up there!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Did not sell anything, looked up some other ridiculous coins and I am riding the doge-meme hype. Safemoon is doind quite ok for the time being.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Too much focusing on daily action, wouldn't have known of any dip if Leofinance wouldn't have told me.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I had bought 500$ worth of altcoin and now at 150$ lost should I wait for the price to plan or not? i hold btt helium sand ckb vet and link

Es una excelente publicacion, gracias por compartir, saludos.

How are you handling the DIP and are you making any changes?

nothing has changed. it is just another dip. i earn crypto from creating content and not trading it so dips don't affect me much. plus most of coins In my portfolio are held for the long run, so the price isn't a problem. it ebbs and flows.

the time to make some significant gains in doge may have passed. might buy if it dumps to 15cent-ish and then wait for it to be hyped to a dollar then dump.

BNB on the other hand is a coin worth holding for the long term. i got into defi because of bsc.

I don't think eth is ready to solve their high gas fee problem and it would take some time to actually bring those plans to fruition.

I would like to know how we cashout our earnings here
