A pivot

Sometimes things don't go quite to plan and today was a perfect example. I'd planned to do some stuff that would have been super cool but conditions weren't right so I ended up doing a walk in the Botanic Gardens and a visit to the museum to see an exhibition from Scotland; more about that some other time.

I'll admit to not liking my plans going wrong or not coming to fruition but it's part of life and we must all be ready to pivot to new directions be it physically or emotionally when things don't work out as intended.

Today we did exactly that and had a really awesome day wandering the gardens and looking at the large exhibits of glass sculptures currently in place there (more about that later) and we had a legit burger and beer there for lunch as well. After a lovely walk through the Adelaide University grounds admiring the old architecture there, we arrived at the second pivot we'd arranged in place of our originals plans at the museum, an exhibition of one of the most amazing Viking hoards ever discovered, which was unearthed in Scotland, and immersed ourselves in history for a couple hours...with coffee in the cafe afterwards.

Life doesn't always go to plan but it's always life, at least until it's over, and I believe in making the most of it even when plans fail.

Perfect example of that old adage 'If life hands you lemons, make lemonade'.

I wonder if you flipped over one of those Viking display pieces, the maker's name would be @meesterboom?

sniff I am going to pretend that wasn't a dig at my age sob 🤣🤣

Ye olde bastard.

An olde bastard is the best bastard 😃😃

I have to agree...as a fellow olde bastard.

But not in heart! For the heart of such men as we forever burns bright with the flame of youth!

Titans never get old, (or olde), they just get more Titanic.

😂 I thought about how that sounded after I had posted it, and I probably would have changed it had it been anyone else, but I knew you'd see the funny in it. What I really meant was that you are immortal - ageless, like the Highlander😉

Now dry up that sobbing and get back to 'makin' dat monay'

Haha! I laughed like heck when I saw it as you knew I would!

I know my said wouldn't have been in the hoard though, I spent it all 🤣🤣

lol

It was a good day and made up for the other thing not happening...which will happen at some point in the future anyway. I didn't see any evidence of the Boomy in the exhibition but there were loads of Scottish accents, most of which I couldn't understand. Lol.

Success is a good day that started out with a hiccup. A successful pivot changes it right around! I tried talking like a Scotsman one time and couldn't understand a damn thing I said 😂

Couldn't understand yourself? Yep, that sounds about right when someone speaks with a Scottish accent...I think none of them have ever once understood themselves, or each other. 🤣

lol And yet somehow at the end they always clap each other on the back and let out a few loud guffaws

I think the beers and whiskey help with guffawing; they're good at that for sure.

lol

I love a botanic garden.

I read about that hoard. Spoke smashing stuff in it. I didn't realise posts of it were traveling so far afield! They might enjoy the weather and never come back 😃

The Galloway Hoard...worth seeing man, so when it gets back from Adelaide (and wherever else it's going) I'd recommend getting it done. It's here until July and then maybe it's going home or somewhere else; not quite sure. Check it out though, it's worth seeing. (Although, if it had the choice to stay here or go back to Scotland and your shit weather...well, one might have to come to Ausrtalia to see it.

It's coming back straight after Adelaide! Going to Kirkcudbright which is a cunt to pronounce.

Me and the missus have talked about heading down that way as we always go north and haven't been to many places down the bottom end. Will defo need to check it out!

Ah, Kirkcudbright (that cunt of a place) I have such fond memories of all the times I've never been there.

Get ye to Kirkcudbright and check out the Viking board and other things down in Kirkcuddlebright.

I will be cuddling the 'bright and probably will get chased out of town for mocking their southern Scottish ways 🤣🤣

You two and your banter make me laugh, and roll my eyes, at the same time.

Becca 🌷

A bit of eye rolling from partners let's a man know he's on the right track! 😃😃

Bloody southern Scotts, it's well known, even here, that they and their ways are questionable. It's like those from the Australian State of Victoria (mostly the capital of Melbourne). Very dubious indeed.

Questionable ways should always be eye with the greatest of snark!!

Southerners in every land mass... Tech 😃😃

I was worried that the "Pivot" was a horrible tragedy. Had to quickly read this to make sure all is well in Galen with a KP land. 👍 😎 👍

Nah all good, just that conditions weren't right to do the other thing...a good day was still had.

The same thing happened to me, as I told you, but it doesn't matter, physically I can't go out but my mind always flies and it will fly with a lot of imagination, spending a day at home in peace is not bad at all.

I want to see those museum photographs, I want to! I know I will love them.

It was quite dim in the museum so I'm not sure the photos will come out well, we'll see when I finally get around to looking at them.

I hope it's good! Good night!

Man I would have loved to have seen the Viking displays. Their history is always interesting to me. I am sure the walk inthe botantical gardens was a relaxing time. Not sure what your original plans were, but sounds like your pivot turned out okay to me.

The hoard was pretty cool and quite a significant find for many reasons. It was very interesting to see. My photos and text won't do it justice but I'll do a post anyway, maybe next week.

Look forward to it.

Days when plans go array are a surprise at times doing something completely different. Sounds you ended up enjoying the change, have a wonderful new week.

Yep, it was a nice day over all and it didn't seem to matter my original plans were not to happen on the day.

Have a good week.

Change in day plan never a problem when you find something different to do.

Sounds like a pretty great day to me, even if it wasn't what you originally planned. The gardens look awesome too. I know the feeling though, I don't always handle sudden changes like that very well.

There's a cool exhibition in the gardens, big glass-blown sculptures, which one can see in day time but also go at night when they light them all up (and the gardens itself) which is pretty spectacular.

But yeah, a good day for sure.

That does sound really amazing!

Man thats how look my weekends here when i don't go skate haha, loved that pictures. 🙌🏻💎

Cheers.

That is a point we must accept at all costs even if we fail to accept things easily. I also believe things will always not remain the same, and we must be ready to adapt.

I agree, things change.

Unpredictable indeed.

Or isnt it I'll love to know your opinion why the word indeed ?
