RE: Weekend-engagement week 65: Confessions week

Long hair has been the demise of many, many pipes. I live in an older house (I'd call it "rustic", but it was really just made in the 50's when builders were putting together as many things as quickly and poorly as possible) that has poor plumbing. Every time one of my boys gets a haircut and showers the remaining hairs down the tub I need to take action Quickly, else it becomes a major affair.

One day I'll share the story of how I literally blew the pipe off the tub, but I won't hijack your story to do that. 😃

Haha. That sounds like a great story.
Here (this town being over 500 years old and us living in the remnants of the historic district), most houses were built by idiots who must have left the country immediately after they built them (so that they would not have to do the repairs or maintenance themselves).
They had this colonial concept of super tall walls, massive wood frame for a fragile asbestos roof, open halls that are extremely annoying when it rains, and the whole sewage system of houses and the entire town was made as if they were putting a trap for whoever was going to occupy the premises after they were gone.
All these houses are terribly impractical, especially in an area that is slightly over sea level. Hairs and fat from kitchen oil do a lot of harm to pipes here.
