MTP: Inept Healer

For the inaugural episode of Meet the Praetorians, we meet Thurma Emberworn, Inept Healer who volunteered under Commander Fithe Bladestone to help the Dwarves fight off Oridum Graybrow and his lackeys.

Though she heals, Thurma admits her medicine does not come without... side effects. She does her best, however, and although she remains surprised that she keeps getting called to battle, Thurma does her best to keep innards in and goat phobias out. And the lads all agree that a healer's better than no healer.

So to borrow Thurma's words: "You're Welcome".

The process for creating this video involved the following steps:

  • The concept I wanted to create was something similar to LADBible stories or the Soft White Underbelly interviews (if you're not familiar with those, look them up on YouTube - pretty amazing stuff).
  • For the initial reference video I used Google Veo 3 (see the "MTP teaser" in my previous post), which is incredibly good at creating high quality videos (with audio) from relatively little guidance.
  • Using the image of Thurma from the video, I used Nano Banana (Google's image generation model, which is terrific for consistent character references) to generate multiple different angles of her.
  • I then created audio using ElevenLabs, a terrific speech-generation tool. I found a voice that sounded like what I expected, and also similar to the voice in the original Google Veo 3 video. ElevenLabs allows you to adjust various parameters in the voice, including speed, stability, and style in order to get the feel you want.
  • For the script I took inspiration from the original lore provided by the Splinterlands team. I wanted something somewhat light and funny, but completely true to her backstory.
  • To create the lip sync, I used dzine, which I'd previously used for my music videos and works extremely well for lip syncing custom audio to still frames.
  • For the music, I generated instrumental songs in Suno and clipped out the bits I needed.
  • Finally, to stitch everything together, I used Davinci Resolve.

Feel free to ask me about any part of my process. Happy to share details and help others on their own projects.

This was epic.

Thank you!

Wow, we can't keep up. I know people are amazed at this, I just don't think they've caught up to the post yet :D

Great job again Brave!!!

Thanks Dave :) Already working on the next one.

Fantastic work! I like the title "Meet the Praetorians", it's catchy and easy to remember the MTP. Looking forward to your next one!

Thanks for laying out the individual steps you used to create this. I'm interested to try some of this out on my own.

Glad to hear it and thanks for the comments.

Looking forward to seeing your work as well! :)
