Mounting My Helmets - Part 2

in Toys on Hive4 months ago (edited)

Today was eventful. My sisters babies Christening is tomorrow, and after the church - which is two minutes from the house - we're going to be hosting a bit of a BBQ at the house.

The weather is meant to be great, but we had some prep to do. I got in from work at 5, and hopped straight to it, essentially.

My dad bought Kaleb this little water, playtime thing. But, the weather has only really picked up now, so I was finally able to unbox and assemble it.

He'll have a blast with it, and I'm sure some of the other kids that'll be here will enjoy it too. My little cousins adore Kaleb, and when they're all together me and Aimee barely get a look in.

After putting that together, we put the chairs up on the second-layer patio, and me and my dad put together the parasol. When extended, it's fairly large, so should cover people in plenty of shade.

I put the water thing on the first level, and took a bit of

a wider shot of the other table and chairs. They'll be for the exiles who don't deserve shade.

The back garden looks good, and we have about 14 chairs out there... hopefully it'll be enough.

Not everyone would want to sit down, so I'm sure it will.

I also cleared a space to get in and work on this stuff. I had a bunch of things laying around, and knew when I had all this stuff mounted most of everything else could be given a proper home.

I didn't take pictures of the whole process, because we were running out of daylight.

We marked out the stands, to make it so two helmets would fit above one stand, and I wanted to leave some dead space on the sides, because I have the intention of adding two more to the collection.

Here they are all together, and as you can see, by this stage it was getting fairly dull.

Why didn't you just switch on the light? I hear you ask. Well, I would, but sadly the housing for the bulb is broken, but I bought a new fitting and will replace that at some stage soon. I have ambient lighting in the office, which is good enough for nighttime anyway, especially when working on the computer, so it's no big deal, at the moment.

Here's another angle of the helmets and display stands.

My dad went out and turned on the hall light, which illuminated it a bit more.

After a few minutes, I had all of the figures I currently have, up there. I do have a bunch of doubles which I could have put up too, but I decided against it.

Sadly it is kind of hard to see them in the dull light, but I can assure you, it looks cool.

The finishing touch now is to hang a curtain rail and curtains, as well as change the light fitting, and my office will finally be complete.

I'll settle for this for now though.

It feels like a weight has been lifted, and with all of this stuff mounted, I've reclaimed so much floor space. I'm currently over the moon, and tired as hell.

Wow Killer, Sounds like a busy but rewarding day for you man. Happy new month. The garden setup and the helmet display both seem like they came together nicely. Hope the christening and BBQ go great bro

Thanks so much, I appreciate that, I think it'll be a really nice day for it. I'm the godfather for it, which is pretty cool.

It'll also be nice to have a good meetup with all the friends and family.

I just love your garden and that patio. And I would say that those helmets are not just helmets but a collection.😎👍🏼

True that, and there are two more I really want to add to it, so I left some space on either side to do so.

The garden is really nice, but when we first moved in it had sunk on one side, and the old cement had crumbled and had weeds growing through it, so we rebuilt the sunken side, chipped all of the old cement out and re-done it.

Love this!!! Even though I don't have lots of nerd/geek stuff, I always thought that when I'll begin building my little collection I'll need a very well-defined area to keep these stored nicely. And I love seeing people manage to do it before me, ha! 😁

I'm delighted that I have a dedicated space for the stuff. I do a good bit of creative-based stuff, like writing, playing music, film stuff, or making models with clay, and I've heard it's good to have a space where you can have a bunch of stuff around that helps to inspire and get in the zone.

It's practical too, because I want to start filming some videos and maybe get back into streaming, so it'll be nice to have a decent background for it.

Absolutely! And this kind of things do catch a lot of attention so I'm sure you'll earn many fans in no time :)

How should I say this? This is my dream room :) Star Wars helmets everywhere. I have almost the entire Star Wars LEGO collection of heads, but no place to display them. I really need a bigger apartment 😂But this is definitely my kind of office. Working here and looking at this collection is truly something special :) I won't even asked how much money you've put in this collection 😂

The Lego helmets look sick, I'd like to pick up a few at some stage.

You could make up a few corner shelves, and put them up the side of one of your rooms if there's space, and have it measured out to fit one helmet on each shelf. I did something similar in my bedroom, and have one for my controllers, another for my subwoofer, and the top one for an old WW2 gasmask I got.

I've spent a fair bit over the years on my collection, and this is only some of the stuff I have. Most of my other stuff is in storage boxes, and this stuff was sitting around in boxes until now where I can finally have it displayed.

I'm not too sure what price I'd put on the stuff, the helmets were about 150-200 each, but since being discontinued, they've gone up in price. Last time I checked, Darth Vader was about 500 Euros. The figures are in varying conditions, but I'd say they're going for 5, 10, 20, and some maybe 30 each. I need another 26 or around that to finish the whole collection. But, there are also the final 17 figures which came out in 1985, or 86.

It looks really awesome😂 This is not cheap hobby 😔. I don't have much space because I live in a small apartment. All my LEGO collections are already displayed, and my husband has a lot of Hot Wheels on display too. In a few years, when we're finally living in a house, there will be a room just for the headsets and all the other LEGO. And of course, we’ll need space for the Hot Wheels too :) You did really great job!

Nice collection there man!

Are there any Star Wars posters that go along with the room? I feel like some Boba Fett would flavour thy walls nicely!

I actually have a Star Wars poster of all of the original figures, which I was going to hang under it, but decided against it because I'm thinking of designing a fold-out desk mounted on the wall that I can take out to use as an extra work station, specifically for non-computer related stuff.

I actually have a Boba Fett poster too, from the 90's I think, it folds out and is a full body picture of him which is pretty cool.

This is exactly what I need, I want to hang my son's toys like this, they are not collector's items but they are special. You have an incredible collection of helmets.
