Victory of light over darkness
Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and is the only other most interesting festival for kids ( after Holi, the festival of colors) because of fire crackers, they simply love to burst the crackers. As I posted in my previous post, I always bring good amount of crackers for them, because I know, they will not leave me spared otherwise. This year was no exception. In the morning, went to our favorite sweet shop and brought sweets - we distribute sweets to whoever comes to home.
The shop was running out of stock fast, and I did grab some.
Rangoli is another important part of the celebration through which we decorate the house. My daughter wanted to create one and brought some Rangoli. It needs lot of time and expertise but then that is what people love to do. The shops do their annual Laxmi puja on this day and decorate as much as possible. You can see, how our regular shop was putting Rangoli and distributed sweets to us.
My daughter patiently did a lovely Rangoli at our home.
Usually people put it outside the home, but then she was comfortable doing inside. Here are some other Rangoli decorations done by our neighbors.
It takes lot of time, but then that is the best way to keep kid's excitement till evening - desperately waiting for crackers. We always visit the temple and seek the blessings of God before going to burst fire crackers. There is always risk associated with crackers and divine blessings is needed to be safe, whatever degree of carefulness you follow.
The apartment has strict guidelines to burst fire crackers only at the open space in the front as cars are parked inside. So every one comes there and its a nice time to see each other and wish them. And you can see everyone coming with nice outfits and wearing jewelries, gifted to them. We had lot of crackers , so I was in charge of looking after the kids while the lady was happy spending time with others.
See the happiness on their face - in some traditional cotton outfit. The lady had some nice time with her friends.
My son and his friends did help us to finish the crackers.
And my brave daughter was not getting tired - she was saying, this year we have brought less crackers. And she was right as well. There was speculation about a cyclone coming in on this day, and for that reason, many traders did not apply for the license and open a shop. The cyclone diverted, so at the last moment, the demand was huge but supply was less. I got this much from a wholesale shop at approx 75$, but usually it would got us much more.
I did manage to frame myself for memories.
Some nice time with other families along with a group photo before coming back.
And some nice food was prepared by the lady to complete the day.
And I must say, I did spend some time on this auspicious day to set up my garden, more to come in another post.

a festival that celebrates the triumph of Light over Darkness is great, it is also very fun for children because of the large number of cookies present, I imagine from the photographs that many people are buying them to have fun at the festival
The light always will win! Happy Diwali

Belated Happy Diwali to you and your family, Sir.
What a celebration. I wish those celebrations to be unlimited in your life.
I really appreciate the rangoli art, that itself is worth a separate post in Hive, I think.
I believe that these festivals are otherwise a strong mechanism of family bonding & get together and their timing is entirely in sync with Nature, see the transition to Winter and Diwali being that interface.
Thank you again. Have a great day.
Thank you so much.
Wow I believe everyone really enjoyed the celebration with the lovely look and smile shared.
Yes, we thoroughly enjoy the time

What a beautiful celebration, I loved seeing the video of how your children have fun
It is good to see the decorations that the neighbors make outside their home, I love where you live, it is appreciated that there is a good community between neighbors
Enjoy it a lot
In fact the speculation on cyclone reduced the joy, but finally we managed to spend some lovely time.
Happy Diwali!
I didn't know that but it makes sense why fireworks are a big part of the celebration. Last night people were lighting fireworks on my street and I at first I didn't know ow why. Then it dawned on me and I Google the date of Diwali.
Anyway, people were celebrating the occasion in Canada on my street last night
Happy Diwali! It's a big festival for us.
