Argyle Waterfall

There was this one time we embarked to see one of the most famous waterfalls in Tobago, Argyle waterfall. The last time we tried to visit this place we could not for the love of anything find it. Back then there was no google maps for Tobago and so we had to go by directions and real maps. Long story short, we never got to it. This time however, we were equipped with our Google Maps and got to the place but low and behold, it was closed and inaccessible! We decided, however to not waste the trip and go exploring in and around the area and what we found was just as beautiful and satisfying even though we had not gotten to see the waterfall.

Argyle Nature Park

The large driveway into the entrance area of the waterfall was a mark of natural beauty in and of itself and deserved to be showcased here. We did not realize before that this was also the driveway into the Argyle Nature Park as well. Driving in, the trees on both sides of the road created a magical canopy, and when rustled in the wind, produced such calming and heavenly sounds. The sunlight that filtered through shone on the road and made up a calming and breathtaking scene.

We passed the area of the waterfall entrance and continued around along a smaller road that was no less beautified with nature. There were raised mounds or hillocks on each side of the driveway covered with grass and trees that made it look as if it was something out of a fantasy. The sunlight filtered through the canopy of trees above head and added golden rays of highlights that made the area look even more magical.

Even the dried and dying leaves on the ground seemed to be beautiful. They were of many colours and accompanied by moss, it looked so beautiful! I don't know if it was just me, but this convinced me about the natural beauty of some places can be in the macro but also extends into the micro.

We came to another area along the road where there were cocoa trees just after a bridge. On the other side of the bridge seemed to be another world with a flowing river way and bamboo. It was extremely peculiar as we were accustomed to seeing bamboo and rivers in very far away places from cocoa estates.

The flowing water of the river seemed to embody the concept of zen where everything was perfectly balanced. The energy of the area felt as if it was healing and made us feel calm, serene and relaxed.

The waters were cool and crystal clear and I would not doubt that it came from a nearby spring. It felt a lot like spring water. I'm not sure how to explain it, but spring water just has a certain fresh crispness to it, almost like a bite. Regardless of where its source was, it was incredibly wondrous.

We didn't have more time to explore any further which I wish we did there were a few side roads that lead off from the main driveway that were just as magical as the entrance. It felt like something from colonial times and I could almost see a horse and carriage rolling along!

Not Better But Maybe Just As Good!

Even though we did not get to see the waterfall for the second time, at least we did not go home with disappointed hearts. I'm not sure what it was with our luck and getting to the Argyle waterfall but it doesn't mean that we won't stop trying to get there. The beautiful nature that we found in the Argyle Nature park was calming to the soul and was what we really needed. I have never in my life seen cocoa fields with a nearby river, bamboo trees and all! Thanks a lot for reading and I hope you enjoyed the pictures, Cheers!
