Time to Gamify my Storytelling - Part 2

Hello fellow reptiles and reptile lovers!
Just kidding. Let's not get into conspiracy theories here. I was mainly approaching you from the Hypersensitivosaurs perspective ;<)

What you will read and see next is pretty much a follow up to my previous write up time to gamify my storytelling

Since a couple of days, I am having quite a lot of fun with a way of storytelling that I had forgotten about, in the last 3 and a half years: game making.

It's fair to say that I basically needed all my energy to focus on writing and illustrating and on making sure to not get overwhelmed by the drama ( called 'life' ) thrown at us from all directions

Lately, I have gotten better and better at rediscovering my creative ( high ) gear and on keeping it at a high enough level to feel good, create and raise other people's energy, without burning myself out in the process.

I still have to keep balancing myself, to not get into hyperdrive and run out of gas but I am getting better at that too :<)

Back To Game Making

Having rediscovered game making, recently ( for the second time ), is a blessing.

It feels pretty empowering to be able to blend two of my strengths: writing/ storytelling and drawing/ playing
and to apply these in a digital setting ( a fun gamemaking tool ). More importantly a tool and space that, unlike many spaces in the digital realm, doesn't drain my energy.

It merely feels fun.

The Bitsy gamemaking editor feels like a big digital play pen or sand box. It awakens the kid inside of me, without giving me the idea that I am just escaping from life.

I love it!

Anyhow, without making this into too much of a promo for this gamemaking tool, I felt like sharing this little GIF I made of what is ( right ) now the start of my storytelling mini game.

You've probably already watched the GIF, unless you prefer reading plain text over text and video or were too impatient to wait for the start but, just in case you haven't give it a watch.

If you didn't already know, the mini game is focused on my recently finished book 'Hypersensitivosaurus and Cold Turkey'.

A book that was delivered at ( and almost stolen from 😉 ) my mom's door step, 2500km away from me, last Thursday.

You can find out more on that and on how to get a digital or physical copy on your screen/ E-book or in your hands, in this write up My Books arrived ( and were almost stolen ) at my mom's front door

I will soon tell you more on the delay in its arrival, here in Portugal.

Suffice to say that there's some kinks to work out and that I have to talk to people from the printing company.

TO BE CONVINUED

as my life is an unfinished story and I enjoy sharing the process with you...

🦖 hug!

I really enjoy seeing your progress, dearest @vincentnijman - and especially this mixing of ideas and mediums, as we've been talking about in private recently; this gaming medium seems to fit so perfectly with your hypersensitivosaurus playfulness and old school thinking about tech. I love it! Looking forward to playing - I like the wordy elements too in your games here!

Thats quite a cool little tool for 8bit style graphic gamifying!!

It is pretty fun.
There is even a soundtrack composing tool:

You might even like to play around with it for a (8) bit, yourself ;<)

I think I might!!!

Awesome! If you indeed do get into it, let me know how you like it ;<)

I'll get one on my screen to know what it entails
Thank you

Cool! I think you might enjoy it.
It's probably going to be like reading a book,
while playing a little adventure ( puzzle ) game.
