Such nice contact lenses

These past few weeks I've been wanting to try some contact lenses for fashion just to change my eye color both for art and for fun lol. I've tried them before when I was a teenager but it was mostly for cosplay so you know, crazy colors and sizes. There's a lot of natural colors and designs nowadays unlike before where we see some really sharp lines and designs and they look so fake so that encouraged me to try out even more. :D

I tried buying the more cheaper and the most straightforward way - by going to one of those optical shops at the mall. This is one of the most popular brands in the country, EO, and I bought their 6 months contact lenses. When I tried them... oh man, they were really uncomfortable. Like I could feel them all the time... and they were also blurry since the contacts would always move and the design would cover my pupil. On top of it, the contacts are 14.5mm so it was a bit bigger than average and I didn't like the look of it since well it made my iris bigger haha.

I also considered that my body is drier than average since I'm taking isotretinoin for my acne and that affects my eyes too. I gave it a chance for a day but they were really uncomfortable all the time so I did some research and apparently I was not the problem lol. It was the contacts. I mean, it wasn't an expensive contact lenses but I would assume this brand would have a decent one since they're a big brand but apparently that doesn't matter. The contact lenses themselves are very dry which was the cause of the discomfort.

Here comes the OLENS

Upon further research on online beauty communities, I found this Korean brand OLENS and is apparently one of the most comfortable lenses some have tried. Korea is very big on beauty brands that includes contact lenses so I decided to order from them.

I ordered from the website since they got a $1 promo for new users and some other coupons as well haha but I chose DHL as the courier since I can't trust Philippine post office and in the end the discounts wouldn't have mattered anyway cos I chose to pay the expensive shipping option. lol

They included some freebies which were lens cases, tweezers, and applicator. It was pretty convenient to have since it is recommended to have new cases each time to prevent eye infections.

I'm still trying them out so I wanted to make the best out of them. I ordered the ones that are most natural looking for me that I can use on normal days and ones that I can use for artistic purposes. Still natural looking but different colors, no crazy looking ones.

This one is one of their latest designs and I got them in Fawn Brown. They last for a month so I should try going out more often to wear and flaunt them for a month haha.

This one is in Ash Gray and as far as the ad pictures show, they're supposed to be really soft gray but not too crazy light grey where I would look like a dog lol. It is a cool gray and I would love to try it with some wigs for pictures but maybe not when going out to do errands. XD

These one month pack costs $29 and it's on Buy 1 Get 1 "promo" but honestly the original price for one pair is $15 so you're just paying for two, so it's false advertising. :P

This one is Ash Beige which is a grayish tone but more on the warm side.

These are 1 day lenses but each pack has 10 pcs (5 pairs). 1 day lenses are apparently the most comfortable ones since they are the most hydrated ones and they didn't need to thicken them to last a long time compared to the monthly ones. I got the one pack for $1 lol. These are Olive colors which I think will suit me cos of my skin tone.

Trying out the Nella Ash Beige

I'm so happy these colors look good on me haha. They surprisingly look light on my eyes but I'm probably just not used to the look. :P I love that it also just suits me because it's more on the warm side despite having a lot of grays in it.

They are also a bit big on my eyes. The graphic diameter is 13.3mm which should be an average size of the iris I guess lol but it gives a doll-eyed impression on me. I guess my iris are just smol cos it looks okay on other people lol.

These lenses are really comfortable.. a lot more comfortable than the previous ones I tried. It doesn't move around my eyeballs and I often forget I have them on. :D I was able to wear them straight for 4 hours and I didn't feel any discomfort.

I think I look a bit weird with bigger pupils lol so I will keep the size in mind when ordering new ones next time.

It gives me an "exotic" vibe tho lolol especially with the wig. I remember back in 2011 when I would take fine art self portraits I would take a random iris on Google and photoshop them on mine since my pupils are really dark so you can't see details on them hahaha. I don't think it's a good practice copyright-wise so having lenses that look natural is a really good option to have.

I'm glad this one was worth it and I didn't have to spend my money somewhere else trying to experiment what works on me. I also didn't want to buy the more cheaper ones since these are eyes we're talking about and I have 20/20 vision and I ain't gonna risk that lol.

I really love these contact lenses and I can see why a lot of them swear by this brand.

Sort:

Oh my, they look good on you and it looks just natural, di mahahalatang may lens. And I just discovered this, may expiration pala ang contact lens, kala ko wala ee haha. I always wanted to try this but never had the chance to do so lalo walang paggagamitan and can't afford ng lola mo haha. And lalo na akong di magtatry coz di pala sya nagtatagal hahaha charrr. I also check the site you share, marami pa silang magagandang color dun, they have good reviews din. Good thing you discover this brand no uwu.

Right?? The design is so nice. Yeah a lot of the contacts can go from 1 month to 1 year haha but the shorter the life span, the better for sanitary purposes. That's why I only open one pair at a time and use it as much as possible para sulit hahaha.

I had eye surgery a long time ago and since then, my eyes have gotten bad enough to where I need corrective lenses again. I've tried using contacts, but they dry my eyes out so bad now and it feels like I am peeling a layer of my eyeball off when I take the lenses out. I would love to find some disposable contacts that work for me because I would much rather wear contacts instead of glasses.

Having to need contacts or glasses suck. Did the doctors give you any other brand recommendations? I read AirOptix are also pretty comfy and I believe is widely available in the US. I guess 1 day contacts will be best for you but honestly with dry eyes I don’t know if it’s just the contacts that matters or you’ll need something else. Eye drops every hour sounds annoying though.

I think it may have a lot to do with the scarring on my eyes from the eye surgery. The contacts feel like a scab on my eye when I try and take them out. It doesn’t feel too great. Kind of like pulling a layer of skin off my eyeball.

That's so cool you're trying these. Can't wait for photos of the other colors. I like the look of people with darker skin tones and lighter-colored eyes - looksinteresting and exotic.

I always wanted to get colored lenses but since I have to wear prescription lenses it would get real expensive and I couldn't just wear them for funsies for a day or two. So - I never experimented with them.

Please get good lenses! Like you said, these are your eyes you're talking about and you're a visual artist. Got to take care of your eyes (while having fun!).

True they look so good on dark skin, I guess the warmth or coolness of the eye color would depend largely on the skin tone. I tried the gray with the cool one and it didnt look good on me. I wish I could try them all the moment I got them but I wouldn't want to waste them by opening haha. I wanted to wait one to expire first before opening another🤣

Yeah those can get expensive. Altho these contacts also have options for graded ones, I wonder what the difference would be with the ones from the doctor's clinic.

I see a lot of reallyyyy cheap lenses on shopping app like $2-$4 each and I just wonder how did they even get that cheap. I enjoy my 20/20 vision and don't plan on doing anything risky to them haha
