“You are a leader when you CHOOSE to take charge of your destiny. DECIDE where you want to go. PLAN how you are going to get to your destination. Then, pick up your paddle and PADDLE HARD every day until you get there."
-Roberto "Bobby" Aboitiz
Hey there, lovely readers! I hope you're all doing great and ready to join me on a journey through my latest blog post. I'll be whisking you away to the unforgettable experience I had during the iQuest Leadership training at the Center for Leaders of RAFI Kool Adventure Camp in Balamban, Cebu.

As a student leader in our school, this leadership training was truly transformative. It provided me some valuable mission, vision and also a practical skills to enhance my leadership abilities, to be a more effective leader in different aspects of my life not just a student leader but as an individual. The training makes us experience a fun and excitement, wherein the facilitators give us many activities and tasks that not only challenged us but also make us to give out the best in ourselves. I also wanted to share all of you the picturesque views of RAFI Kool Adventure Camp.
One of the most memorable experiences was the early morning tour to "The Flight", together with the young leaders of Tabogon and Barili District.
The facilitators explain to us that this symbolic structure represents the 3Cs: COMPETENCE, CHARACTER, and CITIZENSHIP, which are important to an effective leader in aiming, launching, and soaring in leadership. The structure symbolizes of what a successful leader means.
After our tour of "The Flight," we continued our walk to another area of the camp, where we were supposed to complete a series of obstacles. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the obstacles were closed for renovations, and we could see the vulnerability of the ropes from a distance.
And honestly it was my first time to see a helipad down there hahaha.
Nonetheless, we were still able to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings, enjoy the fresh air, and of course taking pictures together with our SSLG adviser Sir RB, @yourcap, @iamhug, and @cocosland .
The cafeteria is one of our favorite part of the Adventure Camp, where we eat our delicious meals. The kitchen staff was very approachable and friendly, while they serve our food they take time to talk with us asking if we loved the food. The cafeteria was facing a breathtaking view of Cansomoroy, Balamban, in the morning and afternoon it is often shrouded in fog combining with the coldy wind that made the cafeteria our favorite hangout spot together with my bunkmates.
After eating, the facilitators instructed us that everyone should be gathered in the discovery hall where we play some games and do our activities. We also interacted many student leaders from different districts.
One of the memorable spot at the camp that we explore was "The Summit," a peaceful and a serene getaway at the hill's peak, offering a tranquil escape where we could take time to for ourselves, the sound of nature is really calming where we can find a so much needed solitude. The Summit was place of peace and reflection. We could hear the sound of the wind and the singing birds. It was a perfect place to unwind for our weary souls.
In the afternoon we can also witness the spectacular view in the bunk facing a breathtaking sunset. And the night comes, we slept in bunks and cabins that was located at the bottom of the hill. The moment I entered the bunk, I was amazed because there are many comfy beds. Before we sleep, we had a fun chatting with our bunkmates, who were young leaders from the Barili District.

This is truly a one-of-a-kind of experience! I was also able to join once during my third year in highschool but the venue at that time was at Cordova. I believe we were the last batch to do the leadership training there before they transferred to Balamban. I will never forget the learnings and how I felt during the whole duration of the event. Here's to conquering more of our dragons! 🤗
